In reply to: Garrett 's message, "DVD Setup" on 00:28:15 01/30/00 Sun

I just read some earlier msgs about DVD setup.

I don't know if I can find the Reinstall instruction sheet. Is it complicated? What's the right order? C+T driver and then REALmagic? When do you install the Mpeg-2? And is it ok if the device type is "Sound, video and game controllers" instead of "PCI Multimedia?"

(When I installed Win98-SE I chose the "portable computer" defaults, in case that might explain why I don't get "PCI multimedia.)

My C+T driver is dated 6-10-1998. Do I need the one from 1997? Or how about the newer one at Intel dated 3/99?

When I insert a DVD the REALmagic DVD Station reports:

MCI Error!
MMSYSTEM281 This file could not be played. Check the filename or install a driver that supports this type of file.

When I try to uninstall REALmagic, I get

Board ID not found. Driver Uninstall cannot proceed.

(Then REALmagic uninstalls.) Does this mean something is wrong with the board? (I did drop the computer a while back & had to replace the hd, but everything else is working ok.

Thanks,
_gARRETT
