A/N: Please don’t flame, I burn easily. None of this is meant to be taken seriously because it is evidently AU. Oh and guys check out my new site: Geocities.com/roswellgeneration
CHAPTER ONE
Anakin stomped angrily from his bedroom. He seriously needed some fresh air. Obi-wan was getting to be too much. He settled on a walk. He made sure to stray from his usual paths. Seriously, Obi-wan thought he was going to be the death of him? How about the other way around?
Ofcourse it was over something stupid. It usually was. In fact, it always was. This time it was about Anakin’s arrogance. In Anakin’s point of view, Obi-wan was just jealous of him. And in Obi’s point of view, Anakin was arrogant, reckless, irresponsible, and a hundred other things.
He was so lost in his thoughts that he barely heard the cry. He heard it though. It was soft and faint, and barely audible.
Anakin stopped his movements in an instant. At first he thought it was just in his mind. He stood there. When he didn’t hear it again he went on his way.
He was getting ready to make a turn when he heard the soft cry again. That time he knew he had heard it. It was a little stronger, and that time he had been more focused. He began to retrace his steps when a voice stopped him.
“Stay where you are,” said the young woman.
Anakin watched her. She was absoulutely beautiful. HE didn’t believe he had ever seen quite a woman. Her eyes told of pain. He could see the cuts on her legs and arms.
She held up a gun.
“Okay, okay. Put that thing down. I meant you no arm,” said Anakin in a calm voice.
“Did Simon send you to fetch me?”
“No, who is Simon?”
“Don’t ask the questions! I am the one doing that here,” said Padme sharply.
“No he didn’t send me! I was just taking a walk to think. Then I heard cries. It must have been you. Put that down. I’m not going to hurt you,” said Anakin.
“No!”
“I have something much worse,” said Anakin in a low voice.
It made Padme look directly at him when she heard his voice low like that. She looked deep in his crystal-blue eyes. She could just look there forever.
“I doubt it,” replied Padme.
Anakin showed her his blue lightsaber.
“Oh, a Jedi knight, how enchanting,” said Padme sarcastically.
Anakin ruefully smiled at her sarcasm.
“Well, not yet. I’m a padawan, you know, a jedi in training,” said Anakin.
Anakin realized she was shivering and took his coat off. He was about to give it to her when she put up a hand, a signal to stop him.
“I’m not cold.”
“Yes, you are,” said Anakin.
“No, I’m not. Who are you? You don’t know of my feelings,” said Padme.
“Well, you’re shaking, and you have goose bumps on your arm,” said Anakin.
Padme finally excepted it.
“Who is Simon?”
“My master?”
“Oh, your husband?”
Padme’s eyes turned dark. They turned to complete hatred.
“I would never marry him. He is my master.”
Anakin remembered the cuts he had seen on her before she put his jacket on.
“You’re his slave?”
Padme nodded his head.
“I ran away a week ago. He has been looking for me. The last time I ran away he beat me and wouldn’t allow me to eat anything for a week. He wouldn’t give me water for two days,” said Padme.
She expected Anakin to tell her she was a fool to run away or to tell her she must go back or else the punishment would be worse this time.
She looked up at him.
“You’re so strong and brave. Let me help you. Let me take you back to the Jedi temple. You can get some food, a bath, a good nights sleep, and figure out what to do tommorow.”
“No, I don’t know you. How do I know if I can trust you?”
“You don’t. You just have to. You trust me and I trust you.”
“Why would I need your trust?”
“Well, we can all use a friend outside of the Jedi order.”
Padme would never admit it, but at least not then, but she was thankful to her new found friend.
**********
“There is absoulutely no excuse on hell for this! I should have known nothing good would have come out of you walking off in anger into the night,” said Obi-wan.
“You’re probably right.”
Obi-wan’s head nodded up and down. Ofcourse he was right. It was about time that his padawan saw it his way.
“I mean after all you should have come with me. Even if I’m 21 I have no business walking by myself at night. It just can’t be safe,” said Anakin sarcastically.
Obi-wan’s head stopped jerking up and down in a nod stance.
“Are you mocking me?”
“You are working too hard! You have honestly got to lighten up. It can’t be good for your health,” said Anakin sarcastically once again.
“Since when do you care about my health?”
“Gee, you make it sound like I don’t care about you. I sincerely do.”
“Then why don’t you listen to a word I tell you,” asked Obi-wan.
“I do listen to you at times.”
“Yes, at times.”
“Who taught me how to manage my skills for the past twelve years, you. I do listen, more than you think. It’s just sometimes there is a better way it can be done,” said Anakin.
“I beg to differ,” replied Obi.
“Oh, here we go again,” muttered Anakin.
He was sure he was in for a long lecture. He had labels for each of Obi’s lectures, if it were actually possible to keep up with how many lectures he received.
“I realize why you want to help the girl. I realize you have a heart to help a slave,” said Obi.
“Yes, I can’t just send her back to her master. Last time he starved her for a week. What kind of people would we be if we sent her back to him? I couldn’t live with myself if I sent her back to hell, knowing I could have prevented it in the first place,” said Anakin.
“Very well. Go to sleep. I will talk to the council in the morning. It has been a long day between battles and you, which is a battle in its self,” said Obi.
“Ha-ha! That is so funny,” said Anakin sarcastically.
“You may retire.”
Anakin shut the door softly on his way out.
As he neared the room he stopped by the room he had placed Padme in.
He found her fast asleep. She looked so peaceful and calm. It was his guess that she hadn’t had peace or slept peacefully in a long time.
He leaned over her and a kissed her on the cheek.
“Padme, I promised to rescue you and keep you safe. I am a man of my word and will die before letting Simon or anyone who knows Simon, get their hands on you. I really like you and vow to protect you.”
As he made his way to the door he took on last look at Padme. He was pleased to find a smile on her lips. What was more was that he was the one who had put it there.
Little did he know was that his adventure with Padme had barely begun.
