I am researching my family history and I have discovered that my Gt,Gt, Grandad Lawrence Walmsley joined the Wellesley in December 1881 as an assistant school master, (I believe that at the time it was ex-frigate HMS Corwall, moored at Coble Dene). In January 1873 he took over as schoolmaster of the vessel at a salary of £110 p.a, In 1874 the school transferred to a larger vessel renamed
"Wellesley Training Ship" but in fact the last "line of battle" battleship "HMS Boscawen" which was moored further downstream at the High Lghts North Shields

If anybody could assist in uncovering any further information about either vessel or my Gt, Gt, Grandad etc.. I would be very grateful indeed, any information I have I would be willing to share.
