Have just seen the site about Indi. Pretty true. I was there in the early 70's - boy 50 Clan Line Dorm, Raleigh Division. 'Jake' Wade was the CO, 'Yaffler' and 'Daddy' Buckland Seamanship Instructors, Tony Raven English Teacher. I hated the bloody place! Violent, lots of stuff going on that was particularly nasty - sexual abuse being one. Tried complaining on behalf of a younger boy abused regularly by a fat git from London, was told to 'stay my mouth'!
I 'bunked' it with a guy called Les Andrews (from Bornemouth) and escaped home. Jack Snape came to my house afterwards with the police as I'd breached indentures. However, to his credit, when I told him that I wasn't going back he just nodded and said it was my decisoion. A good man.

I went to sea afterwards, did 20 years on all sorts of ships and am now well and truly ashore. I miss the sea - but the Indi? Not on your bloody life!
