I knew your Grandfather when I was on the Arethusa. I thought I would like to join the Ships Band. However, I never really got the hang of playing an instrument although your grandfather, God Bless him, showed infinite patience in his efforts to teach me.
He could play every instrument in the band hut, not just well, but very well. He was a consumate muscician, and every inch an officer and a gentlemen. He was a well loved and respected by the lads in the band, not just because of who he was, but because he could not only teach you how to play, he could show you how to play. In common parlance, he had seen it, done it and got the 'T'shirt. A wonderful man of whom you should be extremely proud.
