I am trying to make enquiries about a William Giles who I understand was a Chief Petty Officer aboard HMS Northampton. He was killed we believe in Bermuda. His wife was noted as a widow in the 1901 census. He fathered a son in 1893 (approx) which leaves us with a 7-8 year window to account for his death. I would be interested to hear from anyone who could offer me any details whatsoever of this mans service with the Navy. Many thanks.
