(-The alabaster dragoness is fully prepared for some kind of sudden attack, that being a well-used tactic, and, already being crouched on the ground, is able to pull her wings (encrusted as they are with pale blue diamonds) over most of her body, allowing the spikes to be deflected harmlessly (though not without a bit of pain from the impact) away.

Slipping swiftly back, she then lunges, scythe-like claws reaching, with luck, for the other's throat or sensitive face, her own head curved downward to protect the relatively vulnerable neck.-)
