Subject: The BIG Archive Announcement!!

Hello all,

After months of hard work, the BBF Mods are proud to present:

The BetterBuffyFics Archive! http://s8219.net/BetterBuffyFic

There are about 90 fics archived. Buffy, Angel and Spike are the main characters of approximately 25 of them, and just about every character is represented. There are about 20 slash stories, four of them being femslash.

The archive is open to anyone, not just members of the group, but it is comprised of fics that *you* think are the best out there. Go, look around, read the excellent, wonderful stories, be merry. Oh, and tell your friends.

The BBFA will be updated every two weeks, and here are a couple of rules, affective immediately (you didn't think there wouldn't be a bunch of rules, now, did ya?) :

1. Fics that will get "seconded" by at least 3 people will be archived. Fics that doesn't get enough legit discussion will stay in the bookmarks.

2. If there's a fic in the bookmarks that you think should have been archived but didn't make the cut, bring it up for a discussion. If it gets the requisite number of posts, it will be archived. (Just give us a week or so to recover from this massive project before you start bringing up the fics, ok? )


Check out the Link To Us section, and feel free to advertise us on your sites. Check out the Other Fiction Sites section, and If you know any multiple-author archives that have good fic and aren't there, and you think we should link to, email Angela off-list to let her know.

If you have comments, questions, suggestions, whatever, feel free to contact a mod.

HOWEVER, if you're comment is "I picked fic X by author Y, but it's not archived", then our answer is:
Angela sent e-mails to every single author that was selected, but not all of them responded. We can't archive without permission, so stories by those authors didn't make the cut. This may change if we make contact with any of them in the future, but for now there's no helping that. And no, you don't get to pick another fic instead. Sorry, life's not fair.

Great site, very nice layout,neatly organized! Good job girls. (And why am I reminded of Harmony everytime I say or hear "good job"?? lol)
I'm still quite new to this group, and going through all the bookmakrs was kinda difficult as they're not organized by character or anything. So this site is a huge improvement.
Just one tiny thing, and sorry for criticizing your work, it's just a suggestion. How about splitting the stories into ships rather than only characters? I know this would probably be a hell lot of work to change that now, and it's still fine if it stays like it is, but I thought I'd made this suggestion.
Anyway, I'm already looking forward to read some of those stories. I also think that sometime we'll have one of the biggest fanfic archives out there with ONLY quality fic, and that'd be something completely new I guess.

Hey, thanks for the compliment! It took a lot of work, but I'm pretty proud of what we've been able to accomplish.

I think that may be my influence, with the ships not listed. I think the overriding purpose of the list is to bring good fic into the light, regardless of pairing, style, etc. I'm always afraid that if we labeled ships, people would only look for their favorite, and would ignore the rest, which would be a shame. I mean, I would hate to reduce "Season Noir" to S/B, or "Phoenix Burning" to B/A...

As it stands, the characters indicated in the summary area are generally the ship involved. FoOr most ship fics, the pairing are usually the main characters anyway. We're just using a comma, instead of a slash, so people aren't scared away.

Hmm, okay, haven't thought about that. Well, you're right, people shouldn't just chose by ship, but there are some ships I don't wanna read, and then there are occasions when I'm looking for a certain ship fic and would like to find a real good one in the archive, but there's always the possibility to browse through those character fics and find the right ship there.
As I said it was just a suggestion, still, great work!
