Subject: Fic that I hope has been written
I keep thinking of BtVS fanfics that I want to read but which I don't think have been written. Am I wrong? Where are they? And has anyone got other suggestions for fics that desperately need to be written?
The slayer before Buffy (someone else on BBF suggested this, I think). Who was she? What led to her untimely demise?
Kendra's backstory. I could never quite work out where exactly she was from. I want to read more about her strangely sheltered life.
Faith's alligator wrestling story. Horror! Comedy! Swamps! Faith's Watcher. And a newly-empowered Faith before she met and soured over Buffy.
"Paris by Night". Herself wrote "Manhattan Nocturne" in which Spike manacles Dru to a radiator and then goes out for a night of debauchery. But surely Dru was in charge? Where's the story in which Spike is left chained up and Dru goes out to have her way with the locals?
Mr Trick, the thoroughly modern vampire. What havoc did he wreak in the New Economy? What fantastic webs did he weave over the Net?
Richard Wilkins the First. No doubt all Sunnydale High students are taught about their town's founding. But what really happened?
Hostile Sixteen. We know Spike escaped. Did any others? What was done to them? And what happened after they escaped?
Forrest. He's smart, loud-mouthed, tough, misogynistic and qood at one-liners. So how come no-one's written him into his own personal action film?
The Evaporated Adventures of Jonathon, Superstar. Takes one of his enhanced facets and runs with it: Jonathon on the set of "The Matrix", Jonathon posing for his swimsuit calendar; Jonathon coaching the soccer team. How did he meet those twins or defeat the Master?
Finn at the funerals. Imagine trying to gloss the events of Season Four to Forrest's family and to Maggie Walsh's. Angstorama.
Zeppo Dawn (a retrospective). An episode from Seasons 1-4 rewritten to include Dawn so that her role seems pivotal, but she never affects the actual outcome of any canonical scene.
The strange life of Ben. Go on, someone must be able to persuade me that the Ben/Glory duality thing was interesting.
Spike vs. the New York Slayer. I can't believe no-one's done this. Just look at that amazing subway fight again! This was surely only the final scene of an epic cat-and-mouse (cat and cat?) game across NYC.

Spike's Lurve Palace. In a scene from the shooting script of "Smashed" that never made it to screen, Spike prepares his crypt for Buffy: rope, tasers, rose petals and an old "Avalon" LP. What if Buffy had met him there as he requested? I'm hoping for a comic PWP as there's enough angst already on the show.
Any others? "In Like Finn" anyone? "Riley's Believe It or Not"? "Maggie, Get Your Gun"? "Midnight in the Garden of Moral Ambiguity"?

Funny you should mention this one. I've nearly finished a story called Sunday Girl which is primarily the backstory of the Season 4 vampire in The Freshman that gives Buffy a run for her money, but I've placed her story in New York in 1977 and Spike's Slayer slaying there is an integral part of the story.

It's an NC-17 story that was at fanfiction.net, but I pulled it, as well as another, PG-13, story about Spike's first run-in with a Slayer in Seville in 1896 in protest of their recent censorious decision.

Excellent. I shall have a look at it tonight, perhaps.

I only learnt of ffnet's decision yesterday. Was rather surprised. I understand that they don't wish to be sued, but surely there's some other way of handling this?

Just when I was giving up hope on the board, you show up, with another of your terrific lists.

The one I really really want to see, and haven't, is Spike and Lindey meeting up. I can think of at least ten different directions it could go in and all of them are interesting.
But then, I'll take my lindsey any way i can get him...
i'd also like an anti-zeppo dawn one, as it were - she came from somewhere, didn't she? so what if she went back? and what if everyone lost their fake memories?
and finally, i wouldnt mind a fic that encompasses a philosophical veiwpoint besides that of this christian moral ethos - vampires with a hindu or buddhist orientation for instance...

Technical challenge, that---rewriting "Blood Ties" or "Wrecked" so that Dawn's not in it. Weirdly, it might be easier to rewrite "The Gift".

How do you think they would differ? Apart from the crosses and holy water stuff, what do you consider to be specifically Christian about the series? I'd love to know.
And, yeah, I was out of circulation for a while. I was trying to finish a new fanfic---any new fanfic---I've started at least four. My muse of fiction seems to have deserted me. Possibly he's buggered off to [spoiler beginning with A].

There is a LOT of stuff in the series that is more Christian than you'd think, if fact, the whole ethos of good vs. evil is a lot more semitic (and occidental)than you'd imagine. SO is the philosophy of heaven and hell. As well as souls and soullessness.
I can go into this in far greater detail, since it's something that has irritated me a little, although I guess a show made in america for (primarily) americans has no moral obligation to feature other world views...

I'm definitely interested. I can guess some stuff, but being entirely occidental I'm going to miss a lot. There's some discussion on this at All Things Philosophical, but I'm keen to know more.

There are only two Spike/Lindsey fics that I know.

Itīs been a long time since I read the second, and I remember it being a bit too dark for my taste, but "Looking at you" is really great!
But you are absolutely right, there should be a story that explores their relationship a bit more than the ones mentioned above. Lindsey and Spike, a swimming pool, moonlight... imagine the possibilities! Just a little idea...

the BtVS novel "The Book of Fours" talks about the slayer before Buffy. It's quite good.

I entirely agree with your story "wish-list" and have a couple to add.
Faith's calling ~ I can't recall the 'alligator wrestling story' might entail. I'm curious whether Faith was indentified and trained as a possible Slayer prior to her calling. And some backstory on her original Watcher (other than the Kakistos stuff)

I'd love to see any Dawn/Connor stories. If this ends up being the final BtVS season, perhaps an AU in which Connor ends up in Sunnydale after coming to an understanding with Angel that L.A. isn't big enuf for them both. With both Dawn and Connor having supernatural/mystical origins it is ripe with possibilities. Sort of like "Sunnydale 2nd Gen"
