Perhaps. Anything is possible.

However let's look at it this way. We are over 60% dependant on foreign oil. They can cut back production or raise prices and we are totally at their mercy. California is having a power crisis, gas prices are way up and heating oil is out of the stratusphere. This is not due to "Big Oil" this is due tot he fact that we have had no energy policy these last 8 years. I understand people concerns about more drilling. I for one LOVE nature, I love to be out in it and I have a deep respect for it. However, if we as americans can find ways for us to be less dependant on foreign oil, then our prices will go down. we will be able to provide all our states with energy AND we'll have heat in the winter.

Regardless of George W. Bush's true motives in this situation I cannot argue the FACT that more oil will be good for our country. Screw the caribou, people have to come first.

Incidently did you know that ever since the Alaskan pipe-line was installed the Caribou population has risen dramatically? It's because of the warm natural gas going through the pipes. The caribou move towards the pipe for warmth and breed there. In essence our oil and gas pipelin in Alaska has BENEFITTED the endagered animals. Go figure!
