Well what they mean is like this... We have all this sin all over us. And let's pretend it's dust or dirt. We can't clean ourselves off because everything we touch gets dirty and so we would only be cleaning ourselves with more dirt. But Jesus was a perfectly clean, white cloth. So he wiped us clean with his cloth, but then his cloth got all dirty. So all the dirt in the world got on that cloth. So he who was clean became dirty so we could become clean. But God put him throught the washing machine and he came out clean as ever. So that's what it means when he took our sins away. First he took them upon imself, as if he were guilty of them all. Then he irradicated them with his ressurection.
