(this is a letter I'm sending to KBRT re: Rich Agozino)

I'm a chronic radio talk show caller. I drive around all day on business and I've been listening for twenty years. I've called Rich Agozino at least fifteen times over four years. To his credit, Rich Agozino is one sharp, savvy guy. I don't agree with him on most things, but I admire his integrity.

Agozino's stand on homosexuality is barbaric -- and I've told him so directly. He is a Christian who would fold the OT Law directly into American Law -- a typical dominionist error that denies the basis of Democracy -- and I've told Agozino that as well.

Agozino is at his strongest when he discusses human suffering, having lost his 19 year old daughter in a car accident.

Agozino is at his worst when coming down hard on what he perceives to be sin. He is an Old Testament monster in the style of YHWH who killed anyone who stood in his way of land acquisition or enforcing his morality. And Rich Agozino does want to murder people -- he wants to use state power to kill homosexuals. While he is presently restrained from doing so, he does use his mircrophone to bash gays and other groups and individuals he deems to be evil.

Rich Agozino is the worst sort of Christian because he can be highly articulate and compassionate -- he was a pastor for many years -- and yet he can turn on a dime to become a vicious, bloodthirsty Yahwist who would lead the crowd in being the first one to literally throw the stone that would crush the skull of a gay man whose only crime was to love another man.

My conclusion on Agozino, and this is as direct and brutal a judgment as he can dish out, is that he has taken his rage and pain over his daughter's tragic death and directed it towards gay people. Agozino's mourning is expressed as fury behind a microphone, and sadly, he gets a chorus of amens everytime he preaches the murder of gays.

Ironically, Agozino does not seem capable of realizing that the families of the gay people he would have murdered also have parents, and that their parents would feel the same sense of extraordinary and irreplaceable loss that Rich and his wife felt when they lost their precious daughter at the dawn of her adult life.

I am deeply saddened that Rich Agozino and his wife lost their daughter. As a parent I know that this is the most heartbreaking event that could ever happen.

I would ask Rich Agozino to remember that God lost his Son so that there could be love expressed in the world. I would also remind Rich that the OT Law was done away with in Christ and that we live in America and not ancient Israel.
Therefore, I call upon Rich Agozino to renounce his advocacy of widespread murder in America aimed at gays. His advocacy serves no purpose other than to force non-Christians such as myself to conclude that Christians are dangerous and capable of unrestrained, homicidial violence if given the chance.

I am one who supports free speech and do not want to see Rich Agozino taken off the air. As a former Christian, I find him interesting, provocative, and worth my listening time. I could tune into many other radio shows during afternoon drive time, but I always make time to hear some of what Rich is saying.
