I had to quit because I got tired of my pointless anger. The Right just stirs the shit and tries to inflame and incite fighting. This all makes Rupbert and Fox and O'Reilly a lot of money. The right wing media and the White House are all about keeping people alternately angered or frightened. Conservatives dance to the tune and anyone whos disagrees is a liberal who should be killed. The Right has dehumanized and demonized dissenting oipinion, this is in a country that is supposed to be about free speech. I am raising both of my sons to suspect and distrust everything that Republicans are and stand for. My sons need to understand that the GOP will soon be handing a mess that is named America. These young men will need to fight the Right because the Right will seek to savage them if they are free thinkers or Liberals. There is a generation of children being raised by dittoheads who will grow up hating anyone and any idea that is not Conservative. The GOP children who are coming up will hold a huge reservoir of hatred just as do the children of Islamic terrorists. What is tragically happening is that the GOP and Islam are prepping the next generation to continue the present religious war. Anyone who deludes themselves into thinking it is primarily about terrorism is an idiot. It is about the ascendancy of Christian America at the expense of Islam. There is no longer any freedom of religion in America. "GOPIANITY" has been the new American religion for a decade, this since Gingrich's revolution of 1994.

The culture war is in full swing and Rush and his allies will settle for nothing less than the complete destruction of Liberalism and the victory of conservativism. Like Hitler with Mein Kampf, Reagan told us that "tax and spend liberals" needed to be defeated. No one believed Hitler's manifesto in 1928 and yet he followed it to the letter, including the Final Solution. Nobdody really thought that Reagan meant that Liberals should literally be destroyed, but he did and his followers are quite literal in their quest to destroy the liberal way of thinking. They Right has even hijacked Christianity in order to have a state religion in which YHWH rules and give his assent to ignore Jesus' rules to loves one's enemies. GOPIANITY is all mean all the time.

There is no true representative democratic leadership in America. It is all a mean-spirited fascist cabal run by the Cheney-Bush criminal machine and abetted by Fox, Rush, and the rest of the propaganda hacks of the GOP. Rush and his cohorts serve up a fresh plate of steaming shit to American dittoheads everyday and call it news. It is not news and it never was news. It is all the angery opinion and commentary of white guys with an agenda and the morons who listen confuse anger for truth. It makes it simpler to manipulate idiots if you allow them to associate their anger with righteousness and their opinions with truth. It makes the morons in the Ford 150's feel good about America because Rush and others allow a tacit hatred of minorities, gays, liberals, and anyone else who wants "special rights" or an "entitlement".

It makes it easy for the GOP wealthy to justify their rapacious greed and calls for capital gains tax elimination, tax cuts, and cust to social programs. The GOP call to eliminate social programs that "Liberal Democrats" give to for "minorities" in "exchange for votes" is just another way for the GOP to say what Strom Thurmond and his ilk said fifty years ago: "Don't give welfare to lazy niggers!" Hidden behind the GOP tax cuts is such a rampant racism: Why do you think the GOP got the Southern White vote? Because Rush allowed all those white Southerners to feel righteous in their hatred of blacks once again. The South did rise and it is now called "Conservativsm" instead of what it really is, and that is bald racism.

Murdoch, the arch-criminal, stirs the shit by producing The Simpsons and his other raunchy reality shows that send Christians into a hysteria in which they protest that the morals of America are in the toilet. And then Murdoch turns around and uses Fox News to attack the liberal-caused moral decline of American -- of which The Simpsons and Fox reality shows are a big part. Murdoch, the cagey Aussie, makes money by helping to fuel the moral decline and then by attacking and denouncing it. O'Reilly and Fox News are a part of this hypocrisy-for-profit and know it. Murdoch is one of the worst foreigners who ever came to America. His boundless greed and irresponsible media empire have not contributed to America. Instead, Fox has destroyed the entire meaning of American journalism and sold its soul to tabloidism and sensationalism. Murdich hires actors and arrogant, egotistical buffons like O'Reilly and not journalists. If O'Reilly really had the balls he likes to brag about, he would confront Murdoch about The Simpsons and the other sex-based reality shows that Fox broadcasts. But O'Reilly won't. He leaves Murdoch's hypocrisies alone as does Roger Ailes.

Much of the culture war is the American version of "bread and circuses" because it distracts from the very serious issues that the Bush White House and GOP dominated Congress are wholly incapable of solving. So instead of substantitive and decisive leadership, we are distracted by the radio and tv talk shows -- as if any of the talking heads on either side of the debate make any difference. They are all vicious assholes who do not make news, who are not noble, are not noteworthy for anything other than wanting to be famous for stirring controversy, character assisination, and smearing their ideological enemies. The ruthless Connie Chung was the prototype for this sort of shameless, power-hungry camera hog. Virtually everyone on TV "news" or talk shows these days is a shameless, power-hungry camera hog who realizes that one can become rich and famous by inflamming the masses -- and very often to no point other than ratings and self-aggrandizement. This is even more true of Rush and his radio gangsters whose egos are so massive and whose hatred is so towering. If these men are Americans, then we might as well shutter the country because it has become a blaoted ego on the warpath to make money by gutting the Bill of Rights via radio microphones in the hands of thugs. Bill Bennett used his riches gained by morality to gamble and all of the Right wing news orgs defended him, just as they defended Bush's war with Iraq. They all defend the party line and they do it everyday no matter how nonsensical, violent, or bankrupting it is. When things go wrong, they have the Liebrals to blame because all of them are as petty, vindictive, and thin-skinned as Bush and will accept no blame. I am sick of the current version of America and will have to endure until we can defeat conservative political power, hopefully beginning with winning the White House back in 2004.

On another topic, I always wanted the DB to fun and engaging. It was this way for a long time and then, like anything else, entropy set in. I got in a fight with OPB about 911 and there were hard feelings. We never had quite the same relationship afterwards. I regret this and perhaps amends can be made.

I never had any problems with Queer. I just asked him to bring more humor to the board. I felt like Queer saved his humor for his other work and brought his anger here. Queer: Just for the record, I never had any other issue with you other than this and still consider you a friend. If there was a misunderstanding, I apologize.

I never considered the DB to be my own private Idaho and in fact gave it away when it was no longer appropriate for me to participate. How many people would walk away like that? Maybe it was irresponsible. I don't know. I don't feel like I owed anyone anything. I generally wrote good material, it was free, and nothing was ever asked for in return.

I do not seek a DB revival because that seems untenable. I miss having online repartee and have returned to the DB lately just to have fun. I have many other projects and demands and yet will probably start hanging around here more often because I need an outlet

I would welcome a new mb format and concept somewhere else under a different name. Whenever you watch a "Cheers" reunion it is sad and we can never again have what we had. So we should do a spin-off and start anew. I would welcome any comments. I am basically a free agent who can put a lot of wattage into a mb with my writing and characters. I would like a new home with old friends. If anyone is serious about this, then lets do something about it. The only way a mb works is if people care enough to hang around and make a one or two posts a day. Our reminisences of old are otherwise profitless. The only thing that makes a difference is a commitment. I am open to any ideas because I like hanging around with you guys. The sabbatical I have been on was something I needed to do for personal reasons.
