Subject: Lieberman's presidential chances
In reply to: Sister Regina Dentata 's message, "Sen. Joe Lieberman's ties to "Left Behind" fanboys" on 03:41:54 01/22/03 Wed

Hopefully, Lieberman won't continue to be the Democratic Party front runner as the race to snag the nomination ramps up when more people start paying attention. Name ID can take a candidate only so far, since they must connect with the people of first Iowa and then New Hamphire fairly well for the money from donors to begin pouring in to continue their quest to win enough primaries and stop their opponents' bid simultaneously.

What struck me most in the story of his announcement was the line about how he has "campaigned against violent images in the media and was a strong supporter of the Gulf War." There isn't enough wordsmithing available to reconcile those inconsistant positions.

Also in the article, there's mention of the Connecticut senator's religion in relation to his upcoming campaign, so we'll just have to see how that issue plays itself out:

"Asked by reporters Monday how he felt the American people would react to his faith, Lieberman said: 'I am not running on my faith, but my faith is at the center of who I am, and I'm not going to conceal that.'"
