Yes, spliced knowing season 11 wasn't going to happen. But at least H/ M are on the same page, and it was addressed that M doesn't like to read minds, even though she has her ESP moments ;) I interpreted the ending to be satisfying. I mean of course I would have liked to have the whole resolution happen over a couple episodes, but in this situation it seems more inevitable that H/M be together in the end because of the little time left for them both. I think its help them realize whats important. So not just focusing on the last 8 mins, but the flashbacks to sincere moments which define H/M. (NT) -- mariko, 15:12:48 04/30/05 Sat

Sorry, no reassurances from me. I'm pretty unhappy and disappointed myself. (NT) -- LoriD (in the minority), 15:16:02 04/30/05 Sat

You're not "wrong," just unsatisfied. "JAG" has a tendency to do that to people the last couple of years. In a certain respect, they did cobble this ending together, but if it wasn't enough for you, how would you write it differently? Not putting you down. Just asking. After all, if this board is anything, it is a place for people to find other folks that agree with them. Personally, while recognize the shortcomings of what they gave us last night, I choose to hang on to what they did right or nearly right with the finale. I know the ending wasn't "perfect." I know they made a lot of stuff up. But compared to what we've had for so long and might have had for Harm's last song, I'll happily settle for what we got. Lest you think I'm being unkind, I know you're upset by what they didn't do right as you see it. I'm not trying to belittle that. I wish they had polished a few things up and changed a few things here or there (that line about "needing a deadline," for instance), but for now, I'm one of those people who's happy for what they got and will "deal" with the rest of it later.(NT)-- Dancer, 15:22:11 04/30/05 Sat

I was just logging on to post some thoughts, and they fit perfectly in answer to your post. I've found I'm enjoying the scene in Harm's apt. much more the more I view it. Now that the overwhelming expectations have dissipated and I can just enjoy what there is, it seems better to me. At first, I had a little bit of that dissatisfied feeling, too. I liked it, but it couldn't possibly live up to the expectations I (and many others, I suspect) had built up in my mind. Having watched the last 2 scenes a gazillion times by now, I'm free to just enjoy it for what it is. If it's good enough for H&M, then it's good enough for me. Of course, watching Harm kiss the breath right out of Mac over and over again does wonders for improving my outlook on the episode! LOL! I just LOVE those little whimpers we hear from both of them. Whew! Time to go watch it again!!(NT)-- shygirl, 15:31:14 04/30/05 Sat

I was ticked off with all the time spent on Vic’s case. But I am just happy we got the ending we did. That I truly believe Harm and Mac are in love and happy and getting married. Just go back and rewatch the parts with H&M and skip the Vic storyline or just rewatch the last 7:30 minutes. Watch their looks and body language and see how in love they are and how at peace they finally are. After knowing each other for years they didn’t need much time to settle things they just needed to let go and they did. (NT) -- Hope, 15:33:31 04/30/05 Sat

I think you're right, Hope. Once words and honest feelings started tumbling out, they didn't need time to decide the IMPORTANT thing was for them to be together--everything else was details. Whether "together" meant immediately in the same place (doubtful, you don't get to just "resign" at the drop of a hat, that's "reel" military, not "real" military and many specialities have a stop loss so you can't get out period at the moment) or that they would plan a wedding and work on the details later, it was "good enough." (NT) -- CM>^.,.^ < Could it have been better, heck yes with more time devoted to it, but we got what we got., 15:45:51 04/30/05 Sat

ITA, just look how it played out. One kiss and they were ready for marriage...and they both knew it. To me that was very believable, it's what we've all felt forever. (NT) -- JO, 18:06:46 04/30/05 Sat

It's all a matter of opinion. I am actually happy they didn't discuss their issues. I've always felt that that is where they would fail. Look at all the time we spend arguing their sides of the issues on the boards, it always gets ugly here. I've just always wanted to see them put aside their issues and just agree to forgive and forget instead of trying to figure out what went wrong. So, I guess I'm of no help to you! (NT) -- JenT, 15:42:13 04/30/05 Sat

So the best quote here from yesterday night to fit your post, Mac said, "once you start dissecting something, the damn thing is already dead". It makes sense, maybe this was also the ambiguity of the whole show, maybe it wasn't meant to be resolved. Maybe they are waiting for a TV movie. Anyhow, the point is I'm content with the ending, but I'm no where near dissappointed escpecially with the great flashback collage they gave us and the last 8 mins. (NT) -- mariko, 15:45:57 04/30/05 Sat

When the DVD's come out (I am in denial of the possibility that they won't) I will just watch 4%, then skip to the last two episodes. Then it will make more sense to me if I can forget about the wasted time in between. Yes, I really would have like to have seen the 4-5 ep buildup that DPB referred to, but I am grateful for what we got, considering the alternative! (NT) -- JAG Junkie, 15:46:46 04/30/05 Sat

Exactly what I thought. It was a crazy quilt, and the whole thing should have been rewritten, not just the last scene. Several posts pondered the Mess dress. Did this follow the "Frocking?" I know what a Frocking is, but not so much the military ones, i.e. procedure, uniform, etc. If he wasn't leaving without Mattie, would he have time to clear it with the court? Was she able to travel?? The last we heard, she might be paralyzed. A really FLAWED episode. No group picture at the end; no thanks, no goodbyes by cast or crew. BLAHHH!!! (NT) -- Carol R, still grinding her teeth, 15:50:53 04/30/05 Sat

On one of the ET segments I saw them posing for a big cast and crew picture. They could have taken the 20 second time block that they use to announce next week's ep and put that in there. (NT) -- JAG Junkie--trying not to think of what could have been but focusing on the wonderful moments we did get., 16:04:58 04/30/05 Sat

Semper Fi, - I feel the same way you do. The episode, which BTW, could have been revised enough when the learned that there would be no Season 11, was very disappointing. Yes, I loved the flashbacks, but we've already seen them. Why didn't they show Harm and Mac a little bit more, showing them torn by this new obstacle thrown at them. Instead, we see so much of Yuckyvic, that I left the living room and went to another room. This was defnitely a set up for Season 11, where Yuckyvic would be the "star", but then why did DPB make him some a jerk when he talked to Mac about going to San Diego, and his remarks about Okinawa. It was almost as if Yucky was blackmailing Mac. What a creep. Was that DPB's "surprise"? Every time they came back from a commercial and I saw more of Yuckyvic, and some really nonsensical scenes, I just wanted to yell. Wait, I did yell! The last five minutes had been shown in promos, so most of it was no surprise. I'm glad it ended with Harm and Mac together as I am a big shipper, but I wish we would have seen a little more of their love scene instead of seeing Yuckyvic so much. Now, did they do "the nasty" or not? Was the door closed or open. Did they have an audience? Oh, yeah! I would hope so, since I can't imagine Mac willing to put her career on the line for just a kiss. Also, someone else wrote on another thread that Mac seemed quite ready to leave. "You ascent to greatnes" (not quite sure if that's correct, but something like that was her comment when Harm told her they always knew it could happen. Of course, he meant their separation, but Mac was defensive. I also got the impression that Mac was more ready to leave for San Diego, YET it was MAC who showed up at his apartment and brought the topic of "you and me" up. Harm danced around it until she showed up at his apartment and issued a "You have a deadline, Sailor."
The episode could have been a lot better if Yuckyvic would have been sent to Parris Island and that was the last we saw of him for the rest of the episode, but, hey Harm and Mac are together, at least until the coin drops and it shows she has to give up her career. Then Harm will have to do more "convincing", which I'm quite sure he won't mind at all. Who knows, they may both stay in D.C. still convincing each other! I so wanted to see them wake up in bed, or see a bed scene AFTER the deed was done. They would have both had a big smile on their faces. Yep, that would have worked for me just fine! So, now it's back to fanfic. In my stories, they never stop with just one time!
They did look happy. Also, I think that Harm wearing his Captain's uniform was saying something, just as Mac showing up in that beautiful dress did. BTW, did anyone notice that Mac says "One of us will have to give up our Naval career?" I have gone back several times, and I still hear the same thing. Oh, and the smile on their faces. YEP, THEY DID THE DEED, AUDIENCE AND ALL. Henri
