In reply to: Carole 's message, "Didn't this strike you as odd? ....... In Critical Condition, neither of them wanted the other to jeopardize their career, yet in the finale they were thinking about their own careers. Wouldn't it have made more sense for Mac to have said "Neither of us wants the other to give up their Navy careers"?" on 20:27:43 05/06/05 Fri

Yes. I thought of that. Maybe that is something that can be rectified in fanfic. But Harm did say (to Mac) "you don't want to give up the marine corp". (NT) -- JAG Junkie, 13:55:36 05/01/05 Sun

look at their faces ...i´don´t think they cared what ever the coin would tell them to do...they would be together no matter what (NT) -- davi...still crying because it was so beautyfull..still crying because it is over, 13:56:28 05/01/05 Sun

I concur davi. (NT) -- NevadaGH, 13:57:29 05/01/05 Sun
Even though jeopardizing their career in CC would probably not be out of the service. But with their marriage one of them would so they were being truthful with each other that they wanted to stay in but also wanted each other. In the past their careers always won but now ready to give it up for something better. By tossing a coin and leaving it to fate take away one of them having to pick and remove the resentment that would come with that choice. But what I really would like to see is them find a way to be together and both stay in the service, which I think after the coin toss they would do (NT) -- Hope, 14:01:45 05/01/05 Sun

But Harm already gave up his navy career once for Mac, so it can´t be more precious to him than to be with her.. But maybe this time it´s Mac turn to sacrifice the marine- career. Maybe she could teach law to future JAG lawyers or start up her own bootcamp-courses or survivaltricks-buisness....Or what do you think?. But why is it that they can´t both stay in the service if they get married? (NT) -- Sky - who don´t know so much about the military and all she does know, she learned from JAG!, 14:25:51 05/01/05 Sun

Sky, what you are doing, saying Harm already gave his career and now it's Mac's turn, is precisely the kind of thing that kept them apart. They both "wanted to be on top." They were competitive with each other. They've given that up to be together, and handled it in a way that neither of them feels guilt and resentment. THEY don't care who has done what, or who needs to even the score. Remember in DT, Mac thought she deserved to be pushed away, and Harm said he wasn't trying to get even. (NT) -- Cece....Essentially, no more blame game for either of them., 18:50:59 05/01/05 Sun

Actually, the "Naval Career" statement is not really wrong. Technically, Marine officers are members of the Naval service. Marine medal citations read "highest traditions of the Naval service" etc. The Navy Cross (same as Distingushed Service Cross-Army/Air Force Cross--AF) is awarded to Marines as well as Naval personnel--these are the second highest combat decorations, second only to the MOH. So, "Naval careers" was not really a mis-statement. (NT) -- CM>^.,.^< I don't think it matters who. Harm would be more PRACTICAL, since he virtually has 20 and could retire, Mac probably the more "romantic" choice since she'd be chucking 16 yrs for love, 14:41:49 05/01/05 Sun

I looked at it from the angle that even though it was said no one wanted to give up their career...in the end once everything sunk in for them...they agreed that one of them would make that sacrifice....to me that erased the previous conversation about who would or wouldn't (NT) -- Cheryl, 16:39:47 05/01/05 Sun
