Maybe she thought it was the wake up call they both needed because being 20 feet apart for 9 years hadn’t worked. Or maybe she thought if they hadn’t got it right by now they needed to move on and start fresh away from each other. Not sure which that convo was a little strange. I do think they were surprised at the engagement just look at their faces at McMurphy’s. (NT) -- Hope, 22:39:05 05/12/05 Thu

They were about to throw in the white towel knowing how stubborn this two were. (NT) -- JosieW, 22:39:17 05/12/05 Thu

Hope is right and also its obvious The General and Coates knows what's up with Rabb and Mackenzie but like most fans especially the shippers watching our backs from DB everyone was cautiously hopeful and weary on Harm and Mac but in the end love conquers all.Harm and Mac surprised us all. Cresswell was nothing more than a DPB doll saying what Don wanted; he wanted them separate so he could go on with JAG 90210. Cresswell was a good character until Vic came along, then the pob people came and replaced him with some freak. (NT) -- David, 00:37:22 05/13/05 Fri

I was thinking that this was maybe filmed before they found out they were cancelled. I htought maybe it was a setup for Mac inSan Diego next year. Fresh start, no Harm. It all turned out for the best! (NT) -- mjs, 07:11:35 05/13/05 Fri

It was a kiss off of Harm and Mac, pure and simple...Can you imagine what the last episode would have been like if the series had not been cancelled!!! They rewrote very little to change the dyamnics...the only thing that really changed is the dialogue at the bar! We got no favors out of DPB for 2 years. He just relented to all the pressures....... One Question....I do not want to start anything or to disrespect anyone, but I am not buying this story that DB did not know that he was being cancelled until the last minute. This guy has been in the business for a very long time. I think he knew full well it was a done deal and he had to end it with a good end for H/M. I would like to know what you think.. From the sounds of things he found out during filming of fairwinds. Just going by some of his comments, and other's. (NT) -- David, 11:48:18 05/13/05 Fri

I think he *should* have been able to figure it out. After all, he left it up to DJE to "figure out" that he wasn't going to be renewed. But I think DPB was just in denial. (NT) -- JAG Junkie, 19:00:14 05/13/05 Fri

I think he was in denial. Certainly, many fans thought that the show was likely to not be renewed as far back as last summer. Remember all the posts about, "considering this is probably the last year"? I think DPB was told around Christmas time that the show was not going to be renewed, and that's when he came up with his idea about JAG San Diego. He pitched it to CBS at that point, and since he's delivered in the past and the present (NCIS), they told him they'd see the eps with Vic and see the ratings. That put off the final decision on their part, and it probably was about the time that they were filming FWAFS that he got the final, final decision. By then we'd had the three VIc-heavy, Harm-lite episodes, the news had broken that DJE was gone no matter what, the ratings were significantly better with Harm compared to without, and CBS saw that people weren't willing to substitute Vic for Harm. So they said, "No deal." What's sad is that I think if DPB had decided to end JAG this past season, wind up the story lines, tie up the loose ends, etc., he could have then introduced the characters for JAG: San Diego, made Vic a lot more likeable, and successfully pitched a spin-off to CBS. He could even have kept Mac as the head honcho of the San Diego office. We could have just heard about Harm the way we heard about Webb all season 9. But he chose to take the route he took, and the result was what we got. Given that he "knew" all season long that he was getting rid of Harm, there was no reason not to resolve things between Harm and Mac the way he "really wanted to." He has no one but himself to blame that he had to rush the end of the series.(NT)--Ann, 19:28:28 05/13/05 Fri
