Subtract 5 hours from Zulu to get to EST (I'm not worrying about daylight savings, lol). The scene at Harm's apt would have been set around 2024 (8:24pm EST), and McMurphy's at 2310 (11:10pm EST). (NT) -- mary48184, 13:45:31 06/04/05 Sat

In the original sides, there was some sort of farewell party for Harm and Mac that took place during those three hours. There's some discussion in the sides about how the party was more like a wake and someone, the general maybe, didn't blame Harm for leaving early. Now, since they rewrote the final scene, we are free to speculate what really happened. Either they went to the farewell party, but didn't let anyone know that they had decided to get married, or they got better acquainted at Harm's apartment during those missing hours. They were the only ones who were dressed up, the others who were also supposed to be at the party weren't dressed up at all. So to me it looked they changed the story to reflect Harm and Mac dressing up for the announcement and possibly getting married that same night. (NT) -- Theresa, 14:48:54 06/06/05 Mon

Some of the scenes that were crossed off from the set list were at a hotel patio, valet parking area, and rest room. Hmm. I wonder what that was about (maybe the party they had alluded to in the earlier script sides?). Also, there was is a missing scene between Harm and Bud at Harm's apartment. I may be in the minority here, but I think that what was in the final edit is what we need to go with. So, if there were some 3 hours between Harm's apartment/kiss/proposal and McMurphey's, I'd just assume they were playing chess. Come on! They were "exploring the depths of their relationship"! I'm chiming in late - but Zulu time is the same as Greenwhich time - which means the same time as England... Now... the happenings.... the party wasn't in the final script... that's why no one else was in mess dress..... so we can only assume what ever they did i those three hours.... this is just my fiction, but since there is no "fact" from TPTB, here's how I think it happened. They kiss/propose/have really major HMS then decide to tell their friends. Both want to do it right, Harm's just been "frocked" for Captain, Mac wants to look her best (not Marine) so they go to their respective apts. , change, call the folks who show up at McM and there you are. I read a post on another board that suggested Harm chose Mess Dress - his fanciest uniform - because it could have been the last time he wore one (depending on the coin toss), and possibly the only time he'd be allowed to wear the Captain's bars. There is a scene where Bud comes to Harm's apt. to apologize about Mikey-- they talk for a bit. As Bud is leaving Harm says he'll see him tonight at the party (the one we never saw). Bud asks him if he is doing the right thing. Harm replies, "No. But I'm going to do it anyway." When Mac comes to his apt., after she says, "There's something final about a packed suitcase", there was this:
Harm: Is yours packed
Mac: Standing by the front door. All except for a dress Harm: My favorite color.
Mac: I didn't know you had one.
Harm: It's my favorite on you.
Mac: (teasing) Didn't know you kept track.
After that follows the "let's talk about you and me" part.

There is that conversation with the bartender about Harm's "trick outfit"-- I think that was in the spoiler sides early on. At the bar Coates and Turner have a conversation before going in-- nothing groundbreaking. After Bud flips the coin, at the part where it stops above their heads, it says they were going to superimpose, "The Beginning."
