First of all, I just have to say that was one heck of an episode. Not my favorite finale of all time, but very good considering the circumstances they were working/writing under.

Harm’s reaction to the news touched me tremendously. In one part of the scene in the Admiral’s office, while Chegwidden was talking, I could see Harm in the background pinching the bridge of his nose with his eyes closed – trying to keep his wits about him. The look of desperation in his eyes when he says, “I can find her, sir!”, his firm “Then I quit”, and his expression as he leaves the office all reveal that everything’s finally starting to click inside his head. It’s about time.

I’ll be honest, I got shudders up my spine and tears in my eyes when Webb was being tortured. Now, mind you I usually have a pretty strong stomach – heck, I watch C.S.I., and my motto is “the more gross, the better” – but that’s usually because I don’t know the person that’s dead/hurt. This was WEBB. Goes to show how attached I’ve gotten to these characters.

So glad to have Gunny back!! I hadn’t realized until now how much I’ve really missed him. Love the way he knew that help would come (“I’ve been waiting for somebody to show up!”). Once you’re part of the JAG group, you’re family. Period.

TPTB even gave us a bit of humor last night – Gunny’s driving. I cracked up, especially at Harm’s comments (Gunny: “Just trying to blend in with the locals, sir.” Harm: “We blend in any more, we’ll be smeared all over the landscape.” LOL!).

I know most people didn’t like the fact that we got some JAG HQ time in, but I have to say that I liked seeing the reactions of Bud, Harriet, Jen, and Tiner. The ones who touched me the most, though, were Jen and Harriet. They already nearly lost Bud – they couldn’t bear it if something happened to Harm and Mac. Those two (H & M) have basically been the only parents Jen’s ever had, and we all know how close Harriet is to them. I’ll bet you anything that as Harriet stood in the corner crying, the memory of Harm pushing her to lunch a few days earlier were flashing through her mind. Should be some nice reunion scenes next season.

Now, Mac and Webb – I’ve had growing suspicions about Webb’s feelings since Lawyers, Guns, and Money, what with his comments (Mac: “I don’t see any women in your life.” Webb: “Except you.”), and his opening up to her at the restaurant. And who wouldn’t like Mac? She’s beautiful, courageous, dedicated… but Clay also knows of her feelings for Harm (remember the first hotel scene three weeks ago?). Webb believed he was dying, and wanted Mac to know how he felt in case he did die. Her words, which included the word “friend”, show (at least to me) that she cares for him as a partner and companion. Her kiss was one of comfort. I firmly believe that she and Clay are just not meant to be together romantically (and not just because I’m a Harm/Mac shipper). Why? Personality differences. But that’s a whole new post in itself.

And, of course, we have Harmkins flying a plane – I think there’s some sort of unwritten law that states he HAS to fly in season finales. Anyway, I was thrilled that Mac got to go with him – the Daring Duo’s back in action! (Her nerves as they were about to take off were hilarious. Harm: “Close your eyes!” Mac: “That makes it worse!”) I’m sure they’ll be pretty beat up when they crawl out of that wreckage, but they’ll be fine – after all, as Chloe said, “It’s Harm. Isn’t he, like, invincible?” and Mac is, well, Mac.

And might I just say that Harm looked GORGEOUS throughout the whole hour. I really, really like that shirt… been way too long since we’ve seen him in short-sleeved civvies- those biceps are just too sexy for words. And the short sleeves also gave me an opportunity to see another one of my favorite aspects of Harm's body - a vein that goes directly down the front of his right arm. (I first saw it in Tribunal.)

I’m really looking forward to next season. I have a feeling the first few episodes will be a little rough for the shippers, as we’ll probably see Catherine Gale, her good ‘ole mommy, and Webb again. However, the TV Guide article said that “the courtship of Mac and Harm has been moved to next season”, and DJE told us on The View that “something’s going to happen definitely next season” in the H/M relationship department. All hope is not lost. ;-)

Ugh, I’ve got this monster headache today… after all the excitement last night, I think I’m having a JAG hangover. And no more new eps for four months… argh.

Keepin’ the PMA,
Me
