Courage

Courage is defined as the spirit to face
Both danger and injury with a fearless grace
But not all danger is of a physical design
And not all courage puts a life on the line

A single parent that faces life all on their own
Bringing up children, making them a home
Working by day, both mom and dad at night
They too have courage, are heroes in my sight

Those faced with depression, suffering inside
Daily face the terrors that in their minds reside
Fighting for the light and the reason to live
It's courage to them, that God does daily give

Those that fight injustice against a much larger foe
Facing much resentment, it's the truth they try to sow
For they are driven by the ideal of doing what is right
For them it takes great courage to continue the fight

And for a loving parent to send their child from home
To continue growing, make a new life on their own
For them it's never easy to let go of those you love
Yes courage is the label and it fits them like a glove

When faced with great injury and a painful, crippled life
All the things you used to do now creates great strife
These people daily face such challenge and much pain
They are true heroes, it's quite simple and quite plain

In numerous avenues of life in the society of today
People fight adversity and pain, each and every day
And yet they have the courage to live and carry on
The definition of courage, to them should belong
