Date Posted: 17:31:02 06/17/02 Mon *****Kylee was talking on the phone to her new friends Jessie and Maggie. "Finally I met some kids my age!" she thought. "So, are we still on for the trail ride tomorrow?" asked Kylee. "You bet!" said Jessie. "What horse are you going to ride?" asked Maggie. "I'm riding Lil Squirt my Quarter Horse pony, how about you?" Kylee relpied. "I'm not sure." said Maggie. "Okay, my mom said I have to go walk my dogs. See ya tomorrow." "Bye" Kylee walked downstairs where she found her six dogs waiting at the door. She laughed and said, "You guys are pathic." They were all giving her the puppy eyes and she opened the door. She put a leash on all of them. All 6 puppies started walking. She opened the back gate and decided to walked to FC. She walked for a little while when she saw a sign that said, "Welcome to Fantail Creek" She smiled as she saw people walking, riding, and grooming, their horses. She walked the dogs where she saw her little sister, Annie. "Puppies!" shouted Annie. She ran up to them and they all jumped on her and started to lick her face. Kylee shook her head and said, "What are you doing here?" "Mommy is taking me on a trail ride. Wanna come?" "Sure! Let me put these guys in the barn." Kylee brought them to KDS and let them go in an empty stall. "I hope they don't mind." thought Kylee. She brought ran to Lil Squirts stall. The bay pony put his head over the stall and nickered. Kylee hadn't ridden him in a few days. She took the pony out in cross ties and groomed him. Then she went to the tack room and brought out her saddle. She put in on Squirt and walked him over to the paddock fence. She climbed on the fence and mounted the pony. She turned him around and walked over to her mom. "Are you ready?" asked Kylee. Her mom nodded and said, "Where are they puppies?" "Ummm, I put them in a empty stall." "You can't do that! Did you ask anyone if you could?" "Well, I didn't think it would matter because it wasn't taken." Her mom sighed and said, "Okay, go get the puppies and take them the back way to our house. Keep them in the back yard." "Okay, mom" Kylee turned around Squirt and gave him a slight kick. The pony started an even trot. When she got to the stall she put the puppies in, it was empty! "Oh, no!" thought Kylee. She whistled really loud and clear. She heard a returning bark and all of the puppies thundered across the paddock. "How'd you get out of there?" she said. "Oh, well. Who cares." Then she whistled low and long. The puppies followed her while she trotted Squirt across the dirt road on the trail. When she saw her house in sight she started to pace up alittle. They puppies stayed not long behind. When she reached the gate she opened it. The puppies ran in and Squirt did too! He tried to chase the pups! Kylee turned him around. "Whoa boy," she said, "you can chase them later. Right now we have a trail ride to attend to." When she got to Kentucky Dream Stables she saw her mom and Annie waiting for her. "The puppies got out and I don't know how they did it!" said Kylee. Her mom shrugged her shoulders. "Let's get going." she said. They started to walk along the trail. Just then a beautiful Chestnut Thoroughbred shot out of the clearing. It was Time's War! Their Thoroughbred Mare! "Uh-oh!" said Kylee's mom. "You two go over there! Stay out of the way, you might get hurt!" She walked slowly on Max, her paint, towards War. The Thoroughbred mare took a step back. Alana dismounted. "Steady girl," she said. She held out her hand and walked towards her very slowly. The giant 17 HH mare streched out her muzzle and allowed herslef to get caught. She didn't have a saddle on. All she had was her halter. "Kylee, I need you to stay here with your sister. Here, hold Max. I'm going to take War back home. I'll be back soon!" She said. She walked over Max's saddle bag and took out an extra lead rope. She tied it to the mares halter like reins and mounted the mare from a fence. She led the Mare down the trail, and back to KDS. Then she put the mare in a stall and went to check on their other horses really quick. She ran back down the trail and came back panting. "Okay, thanks." She mounted Max and said, "Okay, we have to go back and check this out." Reluctanly Kylee and Annie muttered, "Okay." They trotted back to KDS and ALana told Kylee to make sure Squirt and Fleatwood, her sister's Arbian Pony Mare, were unsaddled, groomed, and fed properly, while she checked out the pasture where Time's War was in. She trotted off on Max in the direction of the pasture. After about 15-20 min. she came back with a tired Max. She seemed really angry. "I hope I taught you to be good horsepeople because some people aren't!" Kylee and Annie looked at each other confused while their mom went on, "Someone was being lazy or in a hurry because they left the gate to the pasture open! That's how War got out! She was in that pasture! Who knows who else had horses in that pasture! It was empty when I got there! I hope there weren't any other horses in that!" She went to take care of Max and they went home. While they were walking home Kylee was thinking about the puppies got out and then their horse got out. "I wonder who it is." she thought.
