Re: William Smellie -- W McLean, 13:33:20 01/30/06 Mon
My wife's ancestors were descended from Mathew Smellie of South Medrox farm, who married Jean Anderson. My William McLean bought the land from the family when Adam Smellie(b.1778) died. From Sasine records I know three Smellie sisters sold land to my William McLean. Their married names were Davie, Russell and Marshall. My wife's brothers were named Jim Russell Smellie and Thomas Marshall Smellie. I am looking for the generations between James Russell Smellie b 1840 m 1839 in Cambusnethan United Presbyterian church to Isabella Whiteford b 1836 going back to connect them positively with Adam and Mathew Smellie
I Whiteford's son was Thomas Marshall Smellie, b 12 Apr 1882 in Burnhouse, Holytown Staion,m 1905 in Kirkshaws farm (near the old Ladybird factory), d in Clelland, old manse while staying with son Robert, milk dairy.
Thomas Marshall Smellie was married to Christina Henderson Davie b 23 Aug 1886 0h 5 mins a.m.
Desvcendants are in Florida (Jamie Danker...archives in the Lanark site of Rootsweb)
Would be delighted if I could share more information with you...Bill McLean, Dunoon, Argyll Scotland.
