Subject: A visit to the barn

I walked down to the barn from my house, with Penny at my heels. Molly and Sidney were cuddled up on the couch watching television when I left them. As I entered the barn, the musty smell of the stables wafted to my nostrils. Oly, my co-manager's mare, whickered pleasantly at me as I passed. I waved, but hurried on to look at my horses. I stopped at every stall, dishing out everyone's breakfast. I gave each of them a special visit and a scratch, and then I backed off to let them eat. I looked thoroughly at each of my mares. Which one would be the best to be bred to? I knew I wanted to breed Davidoso and Black Beauty. Which one would be the best match for these two stallions. Gato tossed her head and whinnied loudly, and I grinned. Obviously, Gato would be a wonderful match for Blackie. His gentle, calm temperament plus Gato's excitable energetic one would make a perfect foal, just in the middle. And a beautiful black, at that, with the Quarter Horse's muscular power, plus a bit of the Arabian daintiness and flashy movements. I made a mental note to breed these two. Then I looked through my mares to find a good match for Davidoso. As I walked along the mares, Grace caught my eye. Yes! A purebred Andalusian foal! I went over and scratched Grace's poll happily. What a match!

*Note: Marielle I do plan to breed Black Beauty and Gato Negro, as well as Davidoso and Amazing Grace.
