You should discuss it with you instructors before you consider dying you pointe shoes. Basically, is it necessary to have dyed shoes? Are you going to be using them for a performance or is it just to have? I myself have had point shoes dyed for The Nutcraker, a really cool bright red, but I never wear them anymore because the color is a bit odd for classes and because they simply got worn out. If you do decide that you should get dyed pointe shoes they will be hand dyed and they really don't suffer any sort of softening from the process. Also, you can check on ebay, I've noticed that they have alot of dyed shoes for auction.
