Hey everyone!!! Just wanted to take a moment to pass along some news from the Q93 "Talent Search" desk...lol...we're going an all-new direction with "Cenla Idol..." in fact, the direction's so new, we're scrapping the name, altogether!
The legal roughnecks from Fremantle Media (the creators of "American Idol") don't want anyone using the term "Idol" without their permission...not that it ever made sense to me that an individual or company can "own" a word...but hey, no biggie.
With Cenla Idol II just wrapping up, we were ready to give it a rest for at least 6-9 months, but our friends at FOX wanted to do a "shortened" version of "Idol" yet again; we declined, feeling that another "smaller" version of our talent contest would've cheapened the terrific month-long contests we'd held last September and JUST this past May.
With that, the very "name" "Cenla Idol" was essentially taken from us. Q93, it's listeners, and the many contestants MADE "Cenla Idol" what it is; the first go, on our own, the second with limited assistance from our local FOX affiliate. But really...it's just a name...and while the "name" may go elsewhere...the spirit of the contest and the fun we have on the air with it will remain on our station. With a different name, we'll have the same success. And that's because of our listeners and those who put their best voice forward!
That being said, "Cenla Stars" will begin anew this fall, with an emphasis, this time, on younger contestants. We're VERY excited to see what kind of talent there is from our kids...so stay tuned, keep checking in, and get ready for an exciting time, again, with local talent showing their stuff...with "Cenla Stars!"
