Gee, Megan, you seem to go against your own view, honey. Seems you took my response "personally," didn't you?
1. R. Kelly videotaped himself. There's no disputing that. The trial is a formality.
2. Yes, I believe people would (and SHOULD) boycott my show if I were to be charged with sexual crims with a minor.
3. I can't say -for certain - that the JFJ Band WILL be a success. It's just a gut feeling. Besides, they have a GOOD local following here. They've performed here (and drew RAVE reviews, by the way...did ya go?) and plan to return this summer.
I can count on two hands the number of "R. Kelly" requests our DJs have logged in the two months that song's been on the air, according to the request logs our DJs fill out and turn in each week. So, to use "business terminology" (since this IS a business) the "demand" doesn't warrant Q93 "supplying" the product. Simple "supply vs. demand."
4. This station is my responsibility, so in some respect, it is a major part of my life. But no more a part of my life than your job or educational endeavors are to your life. I treat it with as much respect as it deserves. And just so ya know, we don't play songs "just because I like them." We play songs that get the most requests and reaction from the listenership at-large. R. Kelly isn't even a blip on the radar, but I took the time to answer your message, and now you've blown it up and taken it personally. I'll tell ya, for example, that I never liked the Amanda Perez song "Angel," but we play it. So my "judgement" wasn't clouded by my personal feelings. I can list more, I assure you.

I'm not saying you're the only who would want to hear the song you mentioned on the station...but you're the first to really "miss" it on the airwaves, and the song's already peaked on the charts and fallen back.

I appreciate your input...I really do. I just don't think it was necessary to "attack." I just answered your question, dear.

Best,

Ron Roberts
