Kevin,

That's the nature of the contest. We weren't asking listeners to vote solely on their "knowing" the contestant, being related to the contestant, nor were we asking listeners to vote solely based on what they heard. Jen & I have gotten to know the semifinalists and finalists pretty well over the course of the contest, and I think I speak for both of us when I say we couldn't be MORE proud of the folks who made it to the finals. The spirit of the contest brought us the "best" of the contestants that last week, and thus ended all the squabbling about "vote padding" and accusations of cheating, favoritism, etc.

The folks that made it all the way are worthy of praise, and I give it to 'em. They made it not only because they have a healthy following, but because they sang pretty well and have personalities that lead me to believe they can all make it.

Personally, I'm glad it's over. All the squabbling about "woulda shoulda coulda" and people showing favoritism (or even bias against an entire parish, for crying out loud) is just sour grapes. In the end, the "better" performers were performing that last week. Two of the "best" in the bunch were left standing that final Friday. And they were (and still are) both professionals about it...never once did they (or their following) make accusations, call out other contestants or cause the least bit of trouble. I bet if either had been eliminated earlier in the contest, they'd have been gracious in such. In fact, Natalie had been eliminated before our wild card selections - and WAS gracious then.

Compared to others, our final two were a breath of fresh air. We need more "people," not just "Idols", like them in our world.

And for those who wish to still be disappointed at who won, who lost, who were finalists...can we just agree - it's just a contest. Nobody got rich...nobody got famous (yet). It was meant to be fun, and for us and most of our contestants, it was.

We look forward to watching our "Idols" advance in whatever endeavor they choose to follow.

Best,

Ron
