oon, the faery sent out by Amidala returns.
"No sign of any other humans nearby your highness." he reports.
"Oh very well," queen Amidala says, looking at Joran again with a mildly confused expression on her face before turning her attention back to Kripp and Gornul, "I'll spare his life. But he will be branded as a mild offender to the faery race from now on. All faeries that he will come across will know that he committed an offense to faeries and will have to bear that mark for the next ten years, after which time it will disappear."
"Mark?" Joran asks, "What mark?"
Queen Amidala smiles and flies up to him, hovering before Joran's face at eye level. For a moment, lasting no longer than a heartbeat, her tiny hand touches Joran's forehead and a graceful, silver symbol appears on his forehead. It flashes up brightly and then disappears.
"You are free to leave now." Amidala says in a neutral tone of voice as she sits down on the mushroom again.
