I want to stress that I believe respect for others is a really important thing, so I do not want to cause offence, but there you have to be true to what you believe in.I am not telling people what path to follow- it is an individual's decision, but it is clearly misguided to think that wicca and Christianity can be combined. To say they can be combined is not to understand the central tenets of the Christian faith.

The religions contradict each other in many ways. Christians believe in one God, Wicca believes in a God and Goddess. The Bible demands that you only worship one god.

Christianity and Wicca teach totally different things about the nature of God, humanity, Jesus, sin, salvation, the Bible, and the purpose of life. They cannot come together. Wiccan teaching declares that Christianity is an unacceptable religion because it claims to have "the truth" and that Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus' claim to be the only way to God was proven, according to Christian thinking, when God raised him from death.

K - I think it's a shame that your Bible teacher came down so strongly about hell- I think an emphasis on sin and punishment can have the affect it did on you. The God that Christians believe in is loving, faithful, merciful, forgiving, but he also can be angry when we stray. Forgiveness is what Christ bought for us on the cross, thus those who look to the cross are saved, according to Christian teaching. Christians would argue that those practising wicca fail to look to the cross. The emphasis in Christianity is not on sin and punishment and death, but on the fact that God's love has been so great for us that even though so many of us reject him, he sent his only son to die on the cross, for our sakes to give us a means to redemption.

I understand that wicca is not a satanistic witchcraft practice, and forbids harmful spells, but the Bible is clear that any form of magick is wrong. God warned the Israelites: "There shall not be found among you anyone who practices divination, witchcraft, sorcery, or spiritism"

The belief in the soul's rebirth into the physical world, when Christianity teaches that man will die once, is another way in which Wiccan doctrines differ from those of Christianity. Wiccans appear to believe in the divinity of human nature. Christianity, however, makes a distinction between God and man.

Contrary to Wicca, Christianity teaches that there is something to be saved from and that there is a God outside the world to be both feared and obeyed.Man's need, according to Christianity, is to be saved from his sins and reconciled to God. This explains the significance of Christ for Christianity.

**How can you claim to be wiccan and Christian whilst wiccans do not recognise this need, which is the pivotal point to Christianity?!**

Thus wicca is entirely opposed to Christianity. That is not to say that wiccans cannot get along in harmony with christians. I believe religious tolerance is important in today's society. But at least understand the facts when looking at wicca and christianity, because what I'm seeing is a high level of ignorance concerning Christianity. (I'm aware I myself may be showing an ignorance of wicca - but I acknowledge that). The people on this board who claim the two religions can combine are ignorant about Christianity, what it means to be a Christian, and who exactly is a Christian.
