Personally, I think money is harder to talk about openly than is sex. There is a kind of false openness that is a function of the fact that, while sexual transactions are more or less by definition intimate and private, money is a public phenomenon, and as such we have no choice but to find ways to discuss it among ourselves in the larger culture.

Because of this, we all, or at least most of us, get very very good at finding ways to do that while concealing the survival-chakra level issues most of us labor under around money, exchange, abundance and the lack of it. We make assumptions, operate with unexamined expectations, etc. all the time. And I most definitely include myself in that "we."

Talk about primal insanity, Art, this is one of the places it hides and feeds in the dark!

Exacerbating that, which in my view is a culture-wide phenomenon, among us spiritual folks there is a twist to it that involves where we have had to go to claim our spirituality from a hypermasculine base experience: we have had to embrace the spirit/matter split on a deep level. Clarifying that is not a matter of simply deciding not to agree with any such split, these conditioned shadow patterns are way deep in the cells. And we really really don't want to go there. I don't, even while, on another level, I most definitely do.

To go in there threatens our most basic survival agreements, and that is super scary!
