As for me, I'd have to say it makes me a bit more self-concious. I think we emphasize our differences way too much in our culture and we don't focus enough on the ways in which we are the same. While it's good to understand our differences, it's difficult for me to see how we are the same since our differences are more talked about than our similarities. It's like: "I am me. You are you. We have almost nothing in common." Really? Sigh. That's really disappointing.
