first of all, i acknowledge there are those of us outside the norm. super-strong women with charles atlas bodies, nurturing men who are more sensitive than my mother.

that said, my feeling is that, in general, the definitions of man and woman have become a grey area. (viva la difference! but besides that...) if a man wants to take a stand, as a man and it's hard to show that definition as different from a woman, he must go to further extremes to achieve his identity. i think this is causing harm in the world.

on the other hand, i don't think a woman has to do the same thing. in fact, i think that the feminine characteristics of love, sensitivity, & nuturing are disappearing into the fabric of that grey area, and this hardens our society in a non-productive way.

for the first time in my rather feminist-view life, i'm starting to think we should draw a big black line between me and thee. i also think that t.v. contributes to the grey area, and takes away from the definition.

what do you think? is there cause for concern?
