for some reason dogs like horse poop. and any other poop out there. mine eat our chicken poop too.
i've been around horses most of my life and had never come across this one though....we lost a dog this year from eating horse poop! according to our vet, horse poop is a big carrier of salmonella and a dog that eats it can, and does on occasion, become sick. our 10 yr old lab got sick and never fully recovered, after much vet treatment, and had to be put down this past june. it was a huge shock and loss to us as we had him since he was 7 weeks old. never in our wildest imagination would we have thought that he could get sick and die from eating horse poop.
just thought i would share.
