Subject: Training

I've recently started training my 8 yr.old Arabian mare. The problem is..shes too calm! I can easily get a saddle and bridle(snaffle bit)on her a she is more then excepting of my weight..she has never bucked. However I have aproblem with getting her to move forward..she simply won't. She simply stands there. Another problem is I can't lunge her. She has no flight instinct. She has no fear at all of the whip..I've even smacked her once(not purposely of course) however, she won't move. I've never seen her spook at anything..any suggestions?
