I looked up that U. C. Davis Website that I mentioned in my last post. There are two sites of interest in regards to HYPP:

www.vgl.ucdavis.edu/~lvmillon/hypp/hypp_facts.html

www.vgl.ucdavis.edu/~lvmillon/hypp/treatment.html

I printed the information from these Website and placed the pages in clear plastic pageholders. I keep one copy in my barn and one copy in my trailer. That way, if anything should happen, I have the facts and treatment recommendations at my fingertips. I also make sure that any "horsesitters" that I hire when I'm away from home read this information so that they know what to do if someting occurs while I'm gone. The pages are hung on a nail in my tackroom where they will always be easy to find. I have also informed my vet about my horse's HYPP positive status so that he can make appropriate decisions throughout every phase of my horse's care.

With just a little effort on your part you and your horse can learn to live happy and productive lives...even with HYPP. -- Maureen
