Subject: Strangles

Strangles is sweeping across our barn, so when my horse got sick it was assumed she had it. However, i was just wondering if it was normal for a horse with strangles to rub her head on everything. She has rubbed off huge chunks of skin and hair all around her head. I havent noticed any abcesses, or any pus that would have resulted if she'd broke one open. Her nose only runs a little, she hasnt lost her appetite, and shes not coughing. Anyone else whos had a horse with strangles, did your horse scratch like that?
