Subject: Setting up for a Big Fence

I have a horse who I know has jumped 4ft with a rider, and has free jumped around 5 ft. He is scopey and safe with his legs. I'd like to get started on going over bigger stuff with me as the rider. The horse can sometimes be quick to a fence, but generally is good. Is there anything in particular I should feel for or look for setting the horse up for the fence? Thanks for your help
