Author: Splash Williams
Subject: Forever...Rayge...A visit from an old friend. (fixed)

An Exerpt from Professional Wrestling Illustrated, December 2000 Edition, with Splash Williams on the cover- his back turned to a wrestling ring, walking away, a gym bag on his shoulder:

Never in the world of wrestling has a superstar captured the imagination like Splash Williams. On a nightly basis, the arenas rocked, the children idolized him, and the women coveted him. Splash Williams fed off the energy and the emotion of the crowd and they breathed his excitement and charisma. They made each other- Splash became famous. Wrestling fans became Sports Entertainment fans. It was more than Splash vs. his opponent. It was a spectacle. It was an event to remember. It was...glorious. However....something changed...

A voice over an intercom speaker is heard...."Flight 34 for Chicago, Illinois is now boarding First Class." The camera focuses in on the face of Splash, who continues to read the magazine, a smirk on his face. Thoughts go through his head. Is he making the right decision to come back? Does he have it in him to keep up with the trash talk that the like of Anton Rayge would deal out? Is the desire there? Yes. On all counts. He decides. Deep down, he knows Rayge doesn't belong in the same ring as him. The confidence builds. And then he looks at his watch...and the nagging doubt lingers. What does he have left to prove? He goes back to the magazine, reading it as he walks towards to the entrance ramp.

Yes. Something changed. Fame. Money. Women. Power. Power! That was it. Splash Williams could control every ounce of his own destiny. He wanted more. Nike was wrapped around his finger. Endorsements rolled in. He became more Madison Avenue than the light hearted, Malibu, California beach bum the fans had grown to love. "The Endorsement" killed "The Splash Man." Sure, the face was still there. He still had the ability. But he had lost the heart. With the MisGuided Youth, Splash Williams, Darkstar, and Johnny Blades fought the institutions of greed and corruption. They did it with fun. They did it with excitement. They did it with...supersoakers. Then came "Platinum Incorporated." "The Endorsement" Splash Williams became part of what "The Splash Man" had hated. Sure, he got the spot in "Platiunum Inc." based on his ability, and his reputation. But without the heart, it wasn't to last. And PI didn't....

Splash coziess up in his seat on the plane and winks at a cute flight attendant who blushes back at him. Splash's thoughts continue to drift. No heart? What can THAT mean? Oh yeah, that's what it meant....Exactly what it said. He'd sold his heart for power. He'd sold his fans. He'd sold out. Worse thing is, he remembered bragging about being a sell out....and saying the fans would buy everything he sold. Insulting their intelligence. Now, he just hoped they'd take him back. As "The Splash Man." Is that what he had to prove? That he still had the heart to match his charisma, sex appeal, and pure athletic ability. YES! As if to say "EUREKA!," a smile flashes acrossed Splash's face. This Wednesday wasn't about Anton Rayge or Reina Saiaki. It could be anyone else in that ring. He was going to give the fans the greatest show they'd ever seen- to prove to them, and himself, that he still had the heart.
Splash starts grinning from ear to ear when he is tapped on the shoulder. He turns to see an old friend, Bradley McCulver. Brad and Splash had parted ways following the closure of the WHWF nearly two years earlier. Brad had been Splash's bodyguard and tag team partner, going by the name Crash, until Sebastion St. Claire had, with one underhanded attack, destroyed Crash's hip and his career. Splash was at a business meeting at the time--leaving the man who vowed to watch his back vulnerable to his arch enemy. Splash never really forgave himself. And hadn't been able to bring himself to confront his lifelong friend- the man that had saved the life of his older brother. Now, was the moment of truth. Splash stands up, and turns around, looking Brad right in the eye.

Splash Williams: I know it doesn't mean a whole lot. But...I'm sorry.

Bradley McCulver: Sorry for what, J.C.? You didn't do this to me. St. Claire did.

Splash Williams: You can't tell me there's no bitterness. No contact for nearly two years man.

Bradley McCulver: I didn't like what I was seeing of you on TV. We had respected for the fans. You lost that. I didn't want to be a part of that. The fans made you, Splash. You threw that all away. My hip was rebuilt. Can you do the same thing with your career?

Splash Williams: All I can do is try.

Bradley: I've never know Splash Williams to try anything. He does. You've got to DO it.

Splash: They question my heart. They have every right to I know. But it still hurts, deep down. I guess I deserve it.

Bradley: J.C., I know you better than anyone. I knew your ego would never let you stay away for very long with what was left undone. In the end, the fans were booing you out of the arena. And you just smirked. I didn't know that guy.

Splash: I deserved to be booed. I know that now. My mind was a mess with money. I really believed that they'd keep buying whatever I put my name on.

Bradley: Reality can hit you like a hammer. I know. My limp reminds me everyday. I was the strongest man in wrestling. That didn't protect me from reality. You were "The Hottest Commodity in Sports Entertainment..." Until you began believing that was what had got you there. You don't get to the top by being at the top. You're built up to that by the fans Splash.

Splash: I know.

Bradley: I hope so. Anyway, I just saw you were stepping back into the ring. And wanted to know for myself which Splash was coming back. If you need anything, I've got your back.......Hey, what do you know. My seat's right next to yours.

Splash (laughing): Funny. I've got a stalker. Seems like old times. Now, I just need to show Anton what it's like to be hit by the unstoppable force known as "The Splash Man."

Bradley: Look out world. How long will the onsault last this time?

Splash: Forever.

With that, the scene fades out.
