Author: Dark Tiger
Subject: Where'd the faith go?

And so, Dark Tiger's first match is a success. Although not much of one; at least not in the eyes of the fans, or any of the other wrestlers in the GWA for that matter. Barry Odessy came out and started taking apart Tiger, as if he was some house-show jobber. But only because Tiger allowed him to. When Tiger stepped into the ring, he got a rush of energy, but then controlled himself and let himself be layed out. Tiger didn't like the way it turned out. He found no one believed he could win, and were surprised he won at all, not surprised at the fact that he defeated Barry Odessy with his own finisher in a match under a minute long. Dark Tiger couldn't believe it. He knew he had fans, or at least he thought he did. But Lost Paradise prooved him wrong. Wasn't he popular in thw SWA? wasn't he the one who trained Jack Otis, the first one to get a shot at the Maximus Title belt? It seemed strange to him that he was forgotten so quickly. He leaves for a while because of his back and the public turns their back on him. But then he wondered, "Did I really have fans to begin with?". This is what iger asked himself all night after the match. He lied down on his bed, staring at the ceiling thinking about it. He wondered if he was just lucky to get his debute on a PPV. Had they just needed someone to fill in a spot on the card? did they just draw low-carder names from a hat? These questions, too, plagued Tiger's mind. He tried to block them out, but they kept coming back. He needs another victory to ease the pain. A victory where he simply rips his opponent apart. That'll show 'em, Tiger. That'll 'em.

((( A victory to Tiger, big or small, PPV or house show, is important to him. He celebrates each one, but a PPV win is a big deal with him. A win on a PPV event deserves something special. Tiger isn't really in the mood, but it's just a tradition, and for some reason, Tiger doesn't like to break them. Where is Tiger going tonight? A fancy resturant? French perhaps? No. Just a simple steak house down the street. Chewing on some over done steak helps him think and clear his mind. He needed to clear his mind, because sleep usually does that for him, but he didn't get any. Tiger and Kristine take seats in a booth. Tiger takes off his coat and then removes Kristine's too. He shakes the snow off of them and hangs them up on a coat rack near the booth. Yes, I said snow. Crazy New England weather! Tiger and Kristine take a seat on the opposite sides of the booth.

Tiger slumps a little in his seat and stares off across the room at an empty booth. When Tiger's despairing, it often shows on his face, but only people who know him well can tell. Kristine can tell, because well, she just has an eye for those kinds of things. She studies Tiger for a moment, then she talks to him.
)))

Kristine: "Tiger? Honey? You okay? You look like you're angry or sad about somethin'. Anythin' botherin' ya?"

((( Tiger doesn't answer right away. He doesn't turn his head to look at Kristine when he does, either; his voice sounding far off and dead. )))

Tiger: "Nah, nothin' at all. Just tired, that's all. I didn't get any sleep last night, I'm too excited to go to sleep after a match."

((( Kristine props her head on her hand. She knows Tiger isn't telling the truth. She studies Tiger a little more, and finally puts together something to say. Although she's not sure she should; Tiger isnpredictable most of the time. She isn't sure how he'll react. She gathers up enough courage and says it. )))

Kristine: "I doubt anyone could get much sleep after a beating like the one you took last night. Barry Odessy gave you a vicious beat-down."

((( Kristine can see Tiger's eyes bug-out even though he has his face almost completely turned away from her. That's what she was afraid of. She had upset him. Tiger turns away from his gazing and fixes his gaze on her. His eyes wide with anger. He oepns his mouth, but then shuts it. His eyes narrow a little as he leans back and lets a deep sigh. He answers more calmly then Kristine expected. )))

Tiger: "It wasn't that bad. I let him beat me up like that. I didn't wanna embarrass the kid in front of so many people. But then again, I guess I did by giving him his own finisher. I gotta admit, when I reversed hi move, it was an act on fear. I guess if he landed it he would've won. But all the other stuff he did- I let let him do it."

((( Kristine's eyes narrow in disbelief. It sure didn't look like he let Odessy tear him apart like that. It looked like he was really trying out there. Tiger's voice becomes a little more angry when he realizes Kristine doesn't believe him. )))

Tiger: "You don't believe me do you? You think I'm lying, don't you?"

Kristine: "Well..."

((( Kristine's eyes zipsfrom side to side, as if searching for something to say. Tiger opens his mouth to say something, but Kristine beats him to the punch. )))

Kristine: "Of course I don't think you're lying! It's just... just... I mean it looked like you were giving it your all out there and-"

((( Tiger interrupts, getting a little more peeved. )))

Tiger: "Look, those idiots in the GWA have never seen me give it my all beofore. When I give my all, I'm a scary, rabid, beserker beast! If you think that twit Odessy hurt me you're dead wrong!"

((( Kristine sighs with a look of despair on her face. She looks down at the table for a moment, then looks back up at Tiger. )))

Kristine: "But... Those bruises are pretty bad looking, and it sure looked like you were being hurt."

Tiger: "Bruises? What bruises?! I didn't get a single bruise from that munchkin's attacks!"

((( Kristine picks Tiger's arm off the table and pushes the long sleeve of his green sweater back to reveal a huge, ugly looking bruise stretching from his wrist to his elbow, mabey further, but she can't push the sleeve up enough. Tiger snatches his arm back and pushes the sleeve back down. He scowls, a little embarrassed. )))

Tiger: "How did you know? I mean, I had it covered up."

Kristine: "Tiger, I saw you nursing it on your way to the back last night."

((( Tiger's frown fades as he begins to stare at nothingness again. The look of concern on Kristine's face begins to get more worried looking. She knew she shouldn't say it, but she's going to anyway. )))

Kristine: "Uh, Tiger, do you ever think that mabey... Just mabey you're a wee bit out of.. uh... shape, perhaps?"

((( Tiger's reaction is just as Krsitne predicted. )))

Tiger: "OUT OF SHAPE?!! YOU THINK I'M OUT OF SHAPE?!!"

((( Tiger slams his fists on the table as he says this, and makes a huge rucuss, causing everyone to stare. A waiter comes over and he looks at both of them. )))

Waiter: "Is there a problem here, sir? ma'am?"

((( Tiger redirects his anger out onto the waiter. )))

Tiger: "Yeah, there is a problem! The service here is as slow as a slug in molasses! Where are the f'n menues?!"

Waiter: "Right here, sire.

((( The waiter produces two menues held in a leather cover with plastic covering over the list. He puts them down in front of Tiger and Kristine. )))

Waiter: "I'll be back in a few minutes to take your order."

((( The waiter leaves in a hurry. Tiger turns back to Kristine, his anger eased a bit. )))

Tiger: "How can you say I'm out of shape? I'm in great shape!"

Kristine: "Well, I guess so... It's just I don't see you work out much. I don't see you train much. Even Keven Gaines made a comment about your bad training habbits, Tiger."

((( Tiger frowns and hooks his arms around the back of his seat. )))

Tiger: "I train plenty, just because I don't put it on video for the whole world to see like some guy from a porno movie like all the other men in the GWA do doesn't mean I don't train. Besides Kevin Gaines is an idiot. What does he know about training and wrestling? He's just an announcer! Anyway, I don't go worrying about training that hard to begin with because I already know I could beat half of the roster."

((( Kristine looks away for a second, then turns back to Tiger and looks him straight in the eyes. )))

Kristine: "Look I don't doubt your abilities, it's just... well, you didn't make a very good impression last night. You might be a little rusty, that's all I'm sayin'."

Tiger: "Rusty or not, most of of them don't stand a chance."

((( Tiger turns back to an empty seat across from him and stares again. Kristine sighs and gives up. Tiger's so stubbern sometimes. )))

October 31, 2000 5:30 PM

Tiger couldn't believe it; his own girl friend didn't believe him. But who would believe he was just going easy? It sure looked like he was getting beaten. Kristine thought Tiger sounded certain, but he really wasn't. He thought mabey he should train a little more seriously. His back is still giving him problems from way back a year ago in the Survival Pyramid match in the SWA. Last night, after supper, Tiger didn't go to sleep. He stayed up half the night training. Attacking the punching bag and lifting weights. That's all he could do, he definately couldn't sleep and there's nothing good on TV at that time anyway. Even though Tiger did get a few hours of sleep, he still couldn't shake the feeling that his fans had left him. But then again, does he really have fans? or is he "just another low-carder"? Tiger's looking for answers.

((( Halloween has never been an eventful night for Tiger since his childhood. After he reached thirteen, he would just stay home and watch horror movies. The one time he tried to egg a house, Mrs. Gruder's weight lifting husband caught him, beat him up, and when he went home he was grounded. On cold days Tiger can feel his jaw twinge where the man had punched him. Tonight is like any other Halloween for Tiger and Jack.

Tiger and Jack are sitting on the couch in Jack's house, watching cheap horror movies, eating junk food, and drinking soda.

Jack used to get into Halloween until two years ago when the city council banned him from celebrating it. Two years ago, Jack tramatized half the kids in the neighborhood by making one of his grandfathers sit on the porch giving out candy. On his shirt, Jack's granddad had a sign taped to his shirt that read: SOME DAY YOU'LL LOOK LIKE THIS. When kids read the sign and the thought acurred to them that they'd, eventually, end up looking like ugly old gramps, traumatized them. Thusly, Jack was banned from Halloween.

Tiger can't stop thinking about his first match. Jack, like of Tiger's friends, sees that he is thinking about something.
)))

Jack: "Hey, Tiger, what's up? You look down in the dumps, man."

((( Tiger comes out of his daze. )))

Tiger: "Ah, nothin'. I was just thinkin' about Lost Paradise, my match, just wrestling really."

((( Jack grins. He saw Tiger's match and is prepared to rub it in Tiger's face. )))

Jack: "That Barry Odessy guy really tore you apart! As soon as you stepped in the ring, he beat you down! He-"

((( Tiger interrupts. A scowl of great anger makes it's way onto Tiger's face. )))

Tiger: "Shut up, Jack! That Odessy guy didn't stand a chance! I was just letting him beat me up. After all I didn't wanna embarrass him too badly."

((( Jack smerks. Tiger presses on his argument. )))

Tiger: "What? You don't believe me? It's true! I was just goin' easy on that shrimp! I tired not to embarrass him too badly, but I think I did anyway. After all, the match only lasted about a minute. And on top of that I gave him his own finisher!"

Jack: "Yeah, he did look pretty pissed when he found out you had used his own finisher on him. But one thing I noticed is that the crowd never responds much to you."

((( Tiger goes back to his think face again. He remembers the way his spirit dropped when he stepped out onto the entrance ramp and didn't get a response. )))

Tiger: "I don't get it. I mean, I was pretty successful in the SWA, for the short time I was there. And on top of that I was your manager, and you were successful. You were the first one to aquire four wins in a row!"

Jack: "*Smiles self satisfied, and nods* And Don't you forget!"

Tiger: "It's really strange... I wonder why.."

((( Tiger and Jack look thoughtful. Then Jack speaks. )))

Jack: "It's probably because you don't wave to the crowd or anything. You just come out and lock in an icy stare on your opponent."

((( Light dawns on marble head. Tiger's elightened. )))

Tiger: "I can't help it! When I get out there something comes over me! Aw well, I'll get more of a response as I go along. I wonder what my next match'll be."

Jack: "Wonder no longer, my friend!"

((( Jack grins arches himself so he can dig into his jeans pocket. He fishes out a crumpled piece of paper with Saturday Pinnacle's card on it. )))

Tiger: "Who is it?"

Jack: "And the loser is... *Jack makes a drum roll by tapping his feet on the coffe table in front of him* Goliath! Yes Goliath, you are the loser! Your prize? A free ass-kicking, Dark Driver, and an all expense payed trip to unconcious-ville!"

((( Jack and Tiger laugh. )))

Tiger: "Goliath, huh? *Shakes his head* That should be easy."

((( There's a long silence. Jack seems surprised. )))

Jack: "Not much to say about him huh? I guess that shouldn't surprise me. After all, he isn't that great..."

((( Tiger looks mild. )))

Tiger: "I've got plenty to say about him, but'll I'll save it for the promo."

((( Jack shrugs and turns back to the movie. Tiger stares into space again; thinking. )))

November 1, 2000 4:20 PM

((( Tiger does something he usually doesn't do; set up a promo. Yes a promo. For those who know Dark Tiger, know that he's not the talkative type; just a kind of just-do-it-person. But lately he's had a lot on his mind. His match on Saturday with Goliath, his just beating Barry Odessy, and the fact that the fans don't give a darn whether he's there or not puts a lot of words in his head. Words that he really needs to get off his chest.

The scene opens in a room that is completely white. It almost looks like a void, a complete absense of color. The only thing telling it's a room is a bronze door knob sticking out of the wall. If you look closer you can just see the crack of the door.

We can hear quiet foot steps, but they're getting nearer. Louder and louder they get until we see Tiger slowly walking into view. His emotionless just like the face puts on in a match. You can't tell what he's thinking, you can't tell if he's mad or excited, just the way Tiger likes it.

Tiger suddenly looks at the camera with an iron gaze, a look that makes want to look away, but you can't. He walks closer to the camera until he is quite close and you can only see from his waist up. He stares at the camera for a short moment than begins.
)))

Tiger: "I know what you're thinkin'. 'Wow! Tiger's doing a promo! I can't wait to hear what he has to say!'. Because all of those who are intelligent out there know people who don't talk very often, have a lot to say. Unfortunately, on Sunday there were a lot of idiots at Dracula's Castle at Lost Paradise. I can't believe I didn't get a reaction! I thought you guys knew me! Ah well, you'll chnage your mind soon enough when I clean house with these sorry excuses for wrestlers here in the GWA.

I'd also like to clear something up. That match with Barry Odessy; I was going easy on him. I didn't wanna embarrass him too badly, considering how much better I am then him! *Chuckles and cracks a smiel, something he's never done on camera before* But I guess I embarrassed him anyway when I gave him his own finisher! That definately was one of the easiest matches I've had in my career, and that Craven guy didn't even show up! I guess his name describes what he is. Craven! At least Odessy was brave enough to come to the ring! HA! Alothough he was more intelligent than Barry. At least he knew that he couldn't beat me!

Anyway, Last night while a friend and I were watching horror movies, he informed me about my next match. Who was it? Goliath! *Tiger laughs again* Oh boy! That'll be easy! He's just another giant who relies on his bigness to pull him through! It may save you from the low-carders, but when it comes to fighting someone like me, you're all washed up, kid! Keep in mind, Goliath, that I won't go easy on you like I did Odessy. I'm not gonna show any mercy on you, so don't start crying when I break your face open with a T-Factor or when I break your jaw with a Cannon Elbow! One thing I've noticed about you Goliath is that you're named after THE ultimate jobber! Ever read the story about David and Goliath in the Bible? David, a sixteen year old boy knocked out a giant with a sling and a rock the size of a golf ball! THAT'S what I call a jobber. But I can't really call you a jobber because out of your three matches you've only lost one, where as, if you get the courage to speak, you'll call me a jobber. Thusly proving your idiocy! After our match on Saturday, you'll officially become a jobber! Are you ready, Goliath? Probably not, but you'll still have to fight me, and you'll still have to lose- that si if you decide to come at all. You can always just back out, ya know. Think about. It might be the most important decision you'll make in your life!"

((( Tiger grins a smug, cocky grin. Then he slowly walks to the door, opens it, and walks out slamming it behind him. The screen fades out. )))

"Why am I smiling? Well it's hard not to when I look at a mug like yours!" ---Dark Tiger
