Reflections on Childhood

Always so much work to do;
Everyday right after school.
Step out of the car, enter the house,
Which is as quiet as a mouse.
I�d then retreat into my room.
Feelings of impending doom
Surround me, in every way.
I wish I could go out and play,
Like the good old days of my youth,
When I was naive and told the truth.
When roller blades were a daily routine,
But some of the school kids were very mean.
Each day they would tease and taunt,
At night, inside my dreams they�d haunt.
But many friends I�ve made since then,
I go and see them whenever I can.
But still I feel its not the same.
I wish we could play that good old game,
Where you are bad and I am good,
and we all chase each other in the woods.
Tag and hide and seek and such,
I never thought I�d miss it this much.
