Many people feel that helping those
that cannot help themselves is what God
wishes of us. I also believe this is true.
It is not the one who has the faith of Job
who seeks guidance from a psychic. But the
one who asks... Lord, give me a sign to show
me the way.
Faith in God is the highest tool of
healing and helping.

Sometimes we are led to help ourselves
and others with lesser tools in a way that is
easier to understand or grasp.

Hence the creation of the Tarot.

The summary below is an attempt to help
explain my thoughts on the origin of the tarot.

Since the beginning of time there has
been a deep and genuine craving for
"meanings" beyond those of everyday life,
with its dreary everlasting struggle for
substance or something tangible to achieve
understanding.

Before the bible was written there was
the Kabalah. importance of the Kabalah lies
in this, it is one of the oldest systems of
mystical thought of the world. It was
regarded for many centuries as the key to all
the mysteries of the universe. It was an
influence on practically every philosopher or
religious thinker from the founder of the
Essenes to Nostradamus to Madame Blavatsky to
current times.

The basis of all Cabalism is a diagram
called *the sacred tree* or the *tree of
life*. It consists of ten circles joined by
22 lines. The ten circles are the Sephiroth,
or emanations of God. This is basically a
Gnostic diagram. It represents man from
creation to ultimately God and the kingdom of
heaven. The souls journey to God. The soul
begins in a journey downwards progressing
through the ten spheres like the layers of an
onion. Coming from God , Entering in its
earthly body. And returning back to God.

Mysticism is the attempt of the soul to
achieve union again with God. The kabalah
says this cannot be done in one single step
but that the soul has to make its way back up
through the nine spheres by detaching itself
from the earthly vessel. Hence returning to
God.

The tarot cards are a pictorial
representation of the 22 paths. If you will
notice Jesus is placed in the center of the
tree of life, man is below him, and God is
above all. So what the tarot represents are
different things that we learn along the
path. All earthly souls are said to make the
journey back to God. It is the free will and
choices we make along the way that determines
the amount of times we take to return to the
Kingdom of heaven. Hence the explanation of
past life and after life.

This is a copy of the diagram that was
drawn in the 1600's. It shows the paths the
soul takes to return to the Creator. To see a

If you will notice, there are many
crossroads to face. So the Tarot cards show
representations of the choices and lessons we
all face along the path. It is true that the
tarot is only a tool. But it is the tree of
life that it symbolizes. It can help those
who need a more visual answer to gain
understanding of the journey of life to
return to divinity.

Smile notice how the center is symbolic
of going through Christ. And it is also the
most direct and effective path in returning
the soul to its origin.

Love and Light, and God bless us all in
our every deed and thought, Carol
