Two goals from Serhiy Konovalov helped FC Arsenal Kyiv to a barnstorming 5-1 victory over FC Polihraftechnica Olexandria in the Ukrainian Premier League on Sunday.

Goal rush
Konovalov's double ensured free-scoring Arsenal, who have now found the net 19 times in seven matches, climbed to second in the table.

Champions held
On Saturday, last season's champions FC Shakhtar Donetsk had to fight back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih. Volodymyr Musolytyn scored to give Kryvbas a surprise lead, but Brazilian forward Brandão scored his first ever goal for Shakhtar three minutes from full time to salvage a point.

Cruise control
FC Dynamo Kyiv entertained FC Volyn Lutsk, who beat Shakhtar previous weekend, and won 3-1. Maxym Shatskikh, Alexander Khatskevich and Florin Cernat scored for Dynamo, for whom Croatian defender Goran Sablic and 17-year-old Olexandr Aliev made their debuts.

Form sides
High-flying FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and FC Metalurh Donetsk won respective games to maintain their good form. Donetsk beat FC Metalist Kharkiv 3-0 away from home, while Dnipro defeated FC Metalurh Mariupol 1-0 courtesy of a Oleh Venhlynsky strike.

Spot bother
Elsewhere, FC Obolon Kyiv missed two penalties as they lost 3-1 to FC Tavriya Simferopol and FC Karpaty Lviv drew 1-1 with FC Chernomorets Odesa.
