Well, there's one teensy little problem with the whole "Sam changed Al's life" situation:

IF Sam convinced Beth to stay faithful to Al and wait for him to return from Vietnam, and IF they remained happily married and had children, then Al COULDN'T have been involved in Project: Quantum Leap, because he WOULDN'T have been depressed and drunk and angry while working on the Starbright Project, because he was happily married, not several times divorced.

And so Sam would NOT have had his help to build PQL, and never would have made the first Leap, and thus could NOT have made the Leap back to tell Beth to wait for Al, because the Project had never been made.

And IF he had gone ahead and built the Project, without Al, he wouldn't have known him at all, and would have no cause to go back to tell Beth to wait for him.

Like I said, teensy little problem. :-)
