From Liz Smith's column today:

...Publisher Mort Zuckerman laid on a screening and buffet last night for a clutch of upscale VIPs - to name a few, Judy Miller, Barbara Walters, Alan King, Nora Ephron, Lionel Tiger, Lesley Stahl and others. It gave them an advance peek at Irwin Winkler's latest directorial effort, titled "Life as a House." Winkler is extra proud of how he shepherded this Mark Andrus script to the screen at the precise moment when we are all ready to be soothed by family values, parent-child dissolutions and solutions.

Kevin Kline stars as a dysfunctional father-architect caught in his own dilemma. "We are all dying," he says, "but some of us have moved to the front of the line." I enjoyed this thoroughly, as I was ready to experience a little warm and fuzzy family feeling, and this one is certainly offbeat. Extra good work here by a young killer-good-looking kid named Hayden Christensen.
