I just watched a video by Tony of a dog called Nugget working cattle. Nice to see a dog doing just enough to get the job done. No flashiness, just efficient and calm. That to me is what these dogs are all about, just getting on with the job without fuss.
One of mine killed snake last week, the pups had found it and were playing with it. My male walked over, bit it behind the head, had a pee on the nearest bush and walked back inside! Me? Panicking like a madwoman, dog calm as a cucumber just dealt with it. No big deal! The snake was a Night Adder, venomous but not lethal fortunately and no-one got bitten apart from the snake. You can't train for stuff like that, they either do it or they don't.
