Lee, I only chime in here because when people mention protection they do not always mean in the sense of training for PP or for the sport feild... I have a GREAT dog who I regard her main job as that of protection and she has been tested as such but she has not been trained in PP work at all etc...

I understand what you are saying but I've noticed that people are looking for true working dogs in breeders who are breeding the pet equivalent of a protector...not a dog meant to be on a sport field or PP training field...but not a marshmellow either. There's a big difference in the two as far as what stressors they can or cannot take and even good dogs can crumble under pressure if they are not bred to handle what comes with PP training and/or sport training etc... Those same dogs can do their share of protection work on their property...it's night and day and to me, this is where the main problem seems to have stemmed from.

kudos to breeders who breed for true working partners meant to be on the field but kudos to ANYONE who's out there health testing their breeding stock and selling their dogs with no illusions as to what they can or cannot acheive as far as protection work goes.

FYI I'm not posting responses, I've said my piece if you have some response you just can't go without sharing with me, by all means send an email...and if my post spurs on a discussion then so be it. I have no ill will towards anyone on this board, no bone to pick and no advantage to be had, I just felt like this was an opportune moment to point out this quite large underlying issue of the temperment of a dog meant to be on the training or competition field and that meant to stay home and watch the house/flock.
