Marco, I doubt if you check back on this post but in case you do, judging from your own words it appear that you were a more than willing victim. Yes, the breeder took advantage of you but you did plenty to enable him to do so.

He was originally selling a dog with 3/3 hips and he felt that that was acceptable. You should have walked away from this person immediately. Instead, you continue dealing with this same breeder, knowing already the kind of low quality he thought was breed worthy.

According to your post, you were the one who specifically asked him if he would sell Nebo to you. So it's not as though he tried to push this particular dog on you. So, he threw out this ridiculously high price and you agreed to it.

You bought this dog without ever seeing it in person, without requiring any testing, medical records before purchasing, no hip scores, x-rays,nothing. Did you even see recent pictures of this dog? I wouldn't buy a used car under those conditions, much less a live animal.

As Jeff (JWV) said, you could have gone to Kansas and gotten a much, much better dog for $1000. Why did you feel the need to order a middle-aged dog, sight unseen, from someone you don't know, half way round the world? There are many Dopper dogs in the US and probably in Canada as well. You could actually see them before buying.

Finally, you say you are "offering Nebo" (selling?? him) and actually mention BREEDING him?!?! This makes you as much a bad breeder as the person you bought him from. Good Lord, man, neuter the damned dog!! Please. The dog is, what, seven or eight years old now? Has he somehow improved with age? You already blew a pile of money on the dog so you may as well neuter him and just keep feeding and housing him a couple more years. Not like he's going to be around for many more years and it's not his fault he was bred by an irresponsible jackass.

If your post is the sum of all your dog breeding knowledge, please just stop breeding. Educate yourself and start over or just stop and never start again.
