My brindle bitch, Azaan, trained in Agility for over one year at Butler Dog Training Association in SW Pennsylvania. We never had any problem with any of the equipment. That said, one of the trainers at Butler commented that not all equipment is built to the same standard. It can be the same height, width, etc., but that doesn't mean that each piece of equipment has a standardized degree of heaviness or stability.

I suppose it means what do you mean by larger? Do you mean more heavily built, or larger in dimensions in terms of width or height? My trainers advised me against taking my dog to a local club (Misty Pines), where the dog walk was not sturdily built.

I heard a horrible story about a Rott that was walking across the dog walk (standard width), but slipped and was straddling it. The owners had a terrible time getting him up and out of harm's way. It is something to consider.
