I have been at pains in every post that I have made here including the announcement, to stress that I do not want to change the character of the Boerboel. I do not want to develop a sports dog. The last thing the world needs is a high drive Boerboel. I want to preserve the typical historical temperament of the breed, where it still exists and encourage the proliferation of this temperament in all Boerboels as far as possible. This temperament in my opinion could be broadly defined as a calm temperament which allows Boerboels to be a stable family and farm dog that is sufficiently controlled in nature to be safe and stable in behaviour around farm workers, tradesmen and other invited visitors to the home but which has sufficient power and character to protect its family and property if circumstances require it. Such a temperament is as useful to a family as it is to a farmer and is what the majority of dogs used to be but unfortunately not enough are anymore.

I will say it again. I want to preserve the temperament of the Boerboel, not change it.
