Subject: concerning the great dane crosses or other cross bred dogs
In reply to: Nikki Pamplin 's message, "Canis Panther" on 11:58:44 03/11/10 Thu

The great dane as a pure breed today certainly isn't the dog it once was, but as a person that has owned some dane crosses, I can say the breed does seem to be rejuvinated and come alive as a result of the APBT influence or even the EM influence is surprisingly agile and active...and who would have thought that given the EM's traits. I can't speak about what happens with the lab or dobie influence, as I have never seen those.

I also agree with the comments about you might not get the good with the good, and may end up with the bad with that bad. It takes a lot of selective breeding to refine a program. If you don't have space for many dogs and the dedication, time, and money to stick with it for the long haul, don't bother. It takes a LOT of work, time, and money to develop a breed.
